2012 home resolutions revisited

Last year I decided to make home resolutions.  A list a things I wanted to get done around the house before the end of the year.  It’s much easier to hold myself to things like that instead of pretending that I’ll actually go to the gym regularly.  Yesterday I went through last year’s home resolutions to see how I did.

Here’s where we’re at:

DINING ROOM

– BEFORE –

– AFTER –

I didn’t get everything done in the dining room I set out to do, but I’m really happy with the progress thus far.
  • Add picture frame moulding below the chair rail
  • Add crown molding
  • Paint ceiling
  • Switch out chandelier
  • Take hutch off the sideboard
  • New seating (add a bench, different head chairs, make new slipcovers???)
  • Add art
STAIRWAY

– BEFORE –

– AFTER –

There has been small change like the new paint, rearranged gallery wall on the stairs (sorry you can’t see it in the photo).  But, the major changes didn’t happen.

  • Add picture frame moulding up the stairs
  • Add to and update the gallery wall
  • And, if a dream can come true, ripping up the carpet
MASTER BEDROOM

– BEFORE –

– AFTER –

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you.  Nothing happened in here.  NOTHING.  Ugh…  And, this was the one room I really, really wanted to tackle last year.

  • Try to convince my husband to let me switch up his matchy, matchy bachelor furniture set. Ugh… wish me luck
  • Re-paint in a gray tone
  • Add crown molding
  • Add interest to headboard wall (thinking more picture frame molding painted the same color as the wall)
  • Do something about the ugly ceiling fan lights
  • New art
  • Update bedding
  • Add in some stinking accessories already!
IZZY’S ROOM

– BEFORE –

– AFTER –

Izzy’s room is the one room on the list where everything got done.  Wahoo!!!  Ok, doesn’t hurt that it was the first project that got tackled.  But I’m gonna take a win when I can!

  • Paint
  • Upholstered headboard
  • Reading nook
  • Drapes & bedding
  • Dresser & nightstand

So here’s the part where I try to explain why I didn’t get everything done on my list.  Plain and simple, I ran outta juice.  Getting pregnant can poop and girl out.  But I did decide to repaint the entire main floor, stairway, and upstairs hall.

And created a nursery for our new addition, Samuel.

I’m working on putting together this year’s home resolutions.  Seeing as how we’re done adding to the family, I’ll have to come up with another excuse for why I might not complete them 😉

Do you guys make resolutions for the home?  If so, how did you do?
