Every year I think I’ll get my Christmas home tour up early for you guys, and every year the days fly right on past me! While I’m sure you have long already decorated your home for this year, I hope you still enjoy my 2020 Christmas home tour, and hopefully feel inspired to save some ideas for next year.

I’ll include a Christmas decor source list at the end of this post. There are some affiliate links used. For additional information, please visit my Disclosure.

Front Porch

I repeated last year’s front porch decor. No need to change something just to change it. The garland is a blend of old I’ve had for years. The pretty frosted cedar and pine garland is interwoven with some cheap garland at the back to make it appear more full. An old swag was then placed over the top of the doorway. Large clear Christmas lights were woven into all the garland. I like how the large bulbs catch the light during the day.

Entry

There are two areas that make up our entry; the bench as soon as you walk in, and then the console further in under the stairs. It can make things a little tricky when decorating.

I added a sheepskin rug to our entry bench along with an extra long lumbar pillow. Just recently I came across this Etsy shop with the most amazing Kilim pillows for next to nothing. The brown striped one you see here and another you’ll see later on my couch were too good to pass up.

The only other touch this spot needed was a wreath. I added some neutral grosgrain ribbon and vintage bells to a faux cedar wreath I bought last year at Target. My mom recently told me the story behind the vintage bells. When she was a little girl her and my grandmother would walk to the grocery story where my mom would get one bell each week leading up to Christmas. Each one is different. They are one of my most favorite possessions. If you remember, I used them for the napkin rings in my Christmas tablescape.

Under the stairway is our entry console. This is always where I set up our nativity scene. A few years ago I painted a colorful nativity set all white that used to belong to my mother-in-law. Click here for more information on that quick project. It now blends in perfectly with our home’s decor and is a nice reminder of her and her love of Christmas.

Living Room

If you know me, you know I like to keep our Christmas decorations simple. It helps keep me from tiring of things quickly. We have a slim 9′ tree that tucks perfectly into this corner of the living room. All of our ornaments have been with us for years. My mom always gifts me a new ornament each year when we visit the tree farm over Thanksgiving in Kansas. This year we didn’t travel, but she sent me some ornaments in the mail. I always think of my mom when I decorate our tree.

In past years I’ve used a couple of sheepskin rugs as a tree skirt. This year I purchased this basket tree collar. Love the clean look and how it ties in with the other wood tones in here!

Our coffee table is filled with items I associate with this time of year verses dedicated Christmas decor. Faux magnolia stems, pinecones, shed antlers, and the coziness of a great smelling candle.

There isn’t much mantle space on our fireplace so a layer of garland is about all that can fit. I added in some faux eucalyptus stems for more interest. Our stockings are a mixture of newer store bought (the knit ones) and some DIY ones from 15 years ago.

And I just realized I forgot to snap a separate photo of it, but I picked up the sweetest little tree for the kids’ playroom (you can see it in the upstairs balcony) that has all of their special handmade ornaments on it. We even have a little train that runs around the base of it.

Kitchen

Decorating my kitchen for the holidays is a tricky thing for me. Not because I don’t love the look of a decorated kitchen, but because my counters are often covered in school work, mail, and cups. It ends up feeling extra cluttered at our house. So, what works best in our home is a wreath over the hood and a cake stand to display the kids’ gingerbread house. That poor house has only a 1/4th of the roof left as I type, so now we’re down to just the wreath! I’m planning on making some sugar cookies soon to fill up that cake stand.

Dining Room

Our faux olive tree came to live in the dining room since our Christmas tree is in its normal spot. I love it in here! This doesn’t really count as “Christmas decor”, but I just swapped out my greens for these faux pine stems that are more winter appropriate.

Master Bedroom

I went with my usual seasonal decor formula in our master bedroom. All I do is swap out my greens or flowers and add in one or two decor pieces. In here I replaced the clear glass vase with large Philodendron leaves for this dark grey vase with more faux Magnolia stems. I can’t get enough of them this year! My grandmother’s vintage brass deer always come out this time of year and found a home on our dresser.

Eucalyptus is always beautiful this time of the year and I love that it lasts so long. I added some to my nightstand and I like that it ties in with the faux stems I added to our fireplace.

So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed my 2020 Christmas home tour. The kids both have some decor up in their rooms, but I was rushed on time so didn’t include their rooms in this tour. You can see more of their spaces on my Instagram.

Aaah I love it! All of your touches are so perfect- love the wreath in the entry especially! And those stockings with the german glitter tags! I remember when German glitter was all the rage and Pottery Barn had those letters…. now I feel like I don’t see German glitter anywhere- why is that?!?!? It’s so so pretty! Did we use it all that year?!?!

Beautiful as always. I’m loving you touches of Christmas in the entry and of course your nativity. My favorite though is the kids trees upstairs. A special place for all their ornaments❣ 🎄 🎁 ❄
