Last year was not doubt a crazy one, but things still got done around the house. I wanted to round up my 2020 home projects in one post and share my very loose plans for things I would like to get to this year. Let’s dive into it.
DIY French Seam Bed
Ny first project of the year was the DIY French Seam Bed or slipcovered bed I made for Izzy’s room. This project came together for a little over $200. Looking for a slipcovered headboard, how to make a new bedskirt, or an entirely new bed? The great thing about this project is that you can use different bits and pieces of it to create exactly what you are looking for.
Tween Girl’s Room Makeover
My first room makeover of the year was Izzy’s bedroom. Last year Izzy turned 11 and was wanting her room to feel more grown up. Her birthday gift was a bedroom makeover. I love how this room feels entirely different all while keeping a number of key furniture pieces. Proof that you can get a whole new look without having to change everything.
Guest Room Makeover
Our guest bedroom makeover with Bassett Furniture was a fun one. Guest room’s are famous for holding outcast furniture. Ours was a mashup up of all styles and broken pieces of furniture. With this makeover I shared how you can purchase all new furniture pieces from the same store with ease without that matchy, bought-the-whole-room look.
Small Command Center
In the thick of stay-at-home orders I was craving a quick project. Our key rack area by the garage door had been driving me insane for a long while so now was the time to address it. This Small Command Center refresh looks and functions so much better now!
DIY Wall Moulding
Sort of feels like the year of the bedrooms when I’m looking back at it. Several years back I added moulding to our master bedroom’s headboard wall. Soon after I wished I had done the entire room. Years passed, but with all the new time on my hands I decided to finish out the DIY Wall Moulding and repaint the room. Adding moulding to a space is such a great way to add texture and interest.
Easy Bathroom Makeover
Quick and free projects are the best! This Easy Bathroom Makeover of our water closet took me less than an hour and cost nothing. We all have little corners of our home that we don’t love and continue to turn a blind eye to. That was this space. I urge you to just spend a few minutes, start with a blank slate, and shop your house for a new look. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but I guarantee you will love it so much more!
DIY Laundry Room Makeover
Being at home all the time was the best thing for projects I had been putting off. Our laundry room was not very functional for me. Hanging rods were too low to air dry shirts, the light box was always burning out, and the style didn’t flow with the rest of our home’s decor. The DIY Laundry Room Makeover just might be my favorite project of the year. This laundry room is now the hardworking space of my dreams!
Home Theater
We now have a finished home theater! COVID made us do it. Our home was built with a home theater that we had always been using as a storage room. This project was far down on our list of things to do, but got bumped up last year. Honestly I didn’t think it would get as much use as it has. This has quickly become our family’s favorite spot.
This Year’s Plans
Alright, so that’s it for the 2020 home projects! It may not have been a huge list, but looking back I feel pretty good about all that got accomplished. So, what do I have planned for this year?? Well… nothing set in stone. I know, whomp, whomp. I’ve never been one of those bloggers who has a big plan or set schedule. I just roll with it and share stuff as I get to it. Now, there are a couple of things I would like to do this year, but I don’t know when they’ll happen.
Last year I mentioned wanting to make a new bed for our master in this post. I have some wood set aside for it in our garage that was left over from another project. Hopefully I’ll get to this one sooner than later as our current bed is on my nerves.
Sam’s bedroom is also something I would like to address this year. Five years ago his room went from nursery to big boy room. Kids change a lot in five years! After seeing his sister get a room makeover last year he asked if we could make some changes in his room. I am more than happy to do so, but I don’t know what those changes will look like yet. More than likely different nightstands, a desk per his request, and heavy reorganization as his collection of collections has grown.
We do have one big project planned, but I’m going to wait to share more of that with you guys until things are finalized. Stay tuned! Which of the 2020 home projects was your favorite?

NewestYour home has always been beautiful, but I really feel like this year it grew in character! If that makes sense. Love all of the changes!
That is exactly what I want it to have more of! Thank you, Cassie!
