Entry
Welcome to our home!
The front porch and outdoor decorations have yet to be put up, but there is some Christmas as soon as you walk through the door. Often, all you need to bring some holiday cheer to a space is by adding a simple wreath. This year I picked up a new wreath for our entry and added some khaki velvet ribbon. You’ll see this ribbon make an appearance again in our living room. Oh, and here is one of the new rugs I recently added. It’s a washable rug with beautiful green and grey tones.
Further in you’ll find my favorite piece of Christmas decor. My mother-in-law’s Nativity scene that I painted white years ago.

Living Room
Christmas Tree
My favorite space to add Christmas touches to is our living room. We have only one living space and this is definitely where we spend most of our time together. Our 9′ slim Christmas tree tucks perfectly into the corner so there’s no need to rearrange furniture and it doesn’t block our view. This may be our last year with this particular tree as more and more lights keep going out each year, and no matter how hard I try I cannot fix them. I’ll no doubt look for a very similar tree next year.
The velvet ribbon you saw in the entry was also tied onto the Christmas tree. It gives the tree such a sweet look. I also added a new wood bead garland to the tree this year. Our ornaments have been collected over the years. Each year my mom gives me a new one and it makes me so happy when I look around the tree and think of her.
Fireplace
So far this is my favorite garland I’ve put together for the fireplace. Looooving the asymmetrical look! For this garland look I used two faux pieces of garland for extra fullness and added in faux eucalyptus stems for more interest. And of course twinkle lights. They make everything more magical. The brown bottle brush trees bring in more of the warmer tones that I’ve been adding to the living room this year. And this year I swapped out all my fireplace candles to battery operated ones that are on a timer. It’s so nice to have them turn on and off themselves!
Still feeling our mismatch stockings. Feels very casual and collected. I added the faux fur one just the other day. The smaller stocking is a DIY for our dog. More velvet ribbon to tie everything together. The felt labels on our children’s stockings were something I added late last year. Their stockings came with the felt tag and I chain stitched their names on them. Might make similar ones for the other stockings. We’ll see if I have time!

Kitchen
I don’t get too carried away with decorating our kitchen because there is just so much action going on in there at all times. A clutter free kitchen island is my love language. There are still some areas that got some Christmas touches. The big wreath over our vent hood does most of the heavy lifting in here. And I had so much fun styling the new breakfast nook builtin for the first time.
Most of my Christmas tree collection ended up on the shelves as well as some cute little lit houses. The large lantern on the counter has a diffuser inside that makes it look like the chimney is puffing. So dang cute!
I think scent is just as important at setting a cozy holiday feeling as the decor. My main diffuser is on the other side of the kitchen and pumps out holiday essential oil recipes all day long. Today is an Anthropology inspired winter blend of Blue Spruce, Christmas Spirit, Bergamont, and Clove. This place smells incredible. My grandmother’s brass deer are another decor favorite of mine that I look forward to bringing out each year. They were the perfect little touch for this short section of countertop.

Dining Room
Our dining room got a totally new feel with a rug this year! I’ve always wanted one in here, but was waiting until the kids were a little older. Cleaning food out of a rug isn’t my idea of a good time. But the time has finally come and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this rug looks!
During Christmas our faux olive tree from the living room comes to live in here, and the greens on the table get swapped out for magnolia stems. I haven’t yet started thinking about this year’s Christmas table, but you can check out last year’s table here.

Master Bedroom
And here is the last of the new rugs I’ve added to the house. Loving the blues and wine tones in this rug. For Christmas decor in here this is the first time I’ve added garland to our headboard. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but it has absolutely grown on me. If you’re going for the same look make sure you’re using faux garland and that it is secured well. The last thing anyone wants is sharp pieces of real greenery ending up in your sheets or the entire thing falling on you in the middle of the night. My husband was clear that if it should fall on him while we’re sleeping, it’s getting chucked across the room, ha! I don’t blame him!
I picked up these two little trees on our dresser after Christmas last year with no plan for where they would go. On a whim I brought them in here and it ended up being perfect. Bedrooms don’t need a lot of Christmas decor, just a touch goes a long way.

Izzy’s Bedroom
Izzy likes things clean and simple in her room. I swapped out her everyday wall hanging for this winter print of a girl with a braid in a beanie. It reminded me of Izzy and the colors were perfectly suited to her room. She also has a set of Christmas houses on her dresser.

Sam’s Bedroom
Did you check out Sam’s bedroom makeover I shared not too long ago? For his room I changed the art out above his bed for this fir tapestry that I love so much and added some tiny stocking garland I picked up last year. The red ties in perfectly with his rug.

NewestWow! Your home looks absolutely beautiful. Love your holiday decor. I tried to click on a few of your shopping links but they are all coded as Pinterest pins to be saved. I was wondering if you could post the actual web links to your shopping items. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays!
Oh I hate when that happens!! Thank you for bringing that to my attention, Michelle! The links are all fixed so it should go straight to the product instead of Pinterest.
