quick powder room makeover

This weekend I wasn’t planning on fluffing up the powder room, but I did.  It was one of those things where I just got so sick and tired of looking at it that I couldn’t not do anything anymore.
A coat of leftover paint (BM Revere Pewter), and some floating shelves from Target made for a quick little makeover.
Ok, can I just say how tough it is to get any good pictures of a tiny powder room.  Practically impossible to not get my reflection in the mirror, and I couldn’t get the other walls in the photo.
I originally planned on switching out the mirror and light fixture, but I’m not going to bother with that anymore.  I’ll tell you why later.  Big news is coming people.  Big.
Here’s a little before and after action for you.
Ahhhhh…. better.
Paint and shelves.  Shoulda done it sooner!

This room turned out great! Even with a glimpse of how "real" you look. 🙂 I usually do all the projects with the little one attached to me somehow! haha… how else will they learn how to DIY! 🙂

I love what you did. It looks so fresh and classic. It also reminds me a lot of our half bath that I have been stumped and wondering what to do with it. Do you have anything hanging on the wall opposite the toilet? We have a long wall there and I don't know what to do with it.

Love it! I've been intending to put up shelves in our powder room for a long time…maybe this weekend we'll do it. Can't wait to hear the big news!

It's funny, I did stripes in my laundry room, never finished the room and I'm already sick of the stripes. The change looks great, although I did like your stripes. It's so hard to take pictures of bathrooms, especially small ones. How does the revere pewter read in your room? Gray or tan? I can't tell.

funny – I'd like to know where you got your mirror! Our Powder room is getting a much bigger re-do along with the kitchen and I need to buy a mirror. It's stupid things like that that trip me up!

The mirror was left by the previous owner, so I have no clue 🙁 I feel like maybe I saw it at Lowes or Home Depot a few years ago though. Maybe check them out online. Good luck on your redo!

What shelves from target did you use? I've read some of the reviews and they seem like a nightmare!

Hi Lexie! I used Target's Threshold brand floating shelves. They do have horrible reviews! I didn't find them to be difficult to install, but they did tend to lean away from the wall a bit. For what I had on the shelves (toilet paper and a lightweight frame) it didn't bother me. If I would have had anything with some weight to it, it definitely wouldn't have worked. Lowes carries similar floating shelves that are sturdier, they were just too deep for the space above our toilet. Hope this helps!
