I’ve been starting back in on Izzy’s bedroom.  Not too much has happened since I first decided the route I was going to take back in April.

I’ve had the pom pom curtains made for a while (even though I haven’t shared those yet) and then lost steam.  I felt a second wind while going through the new Emily + Meritt goodness going on at PBTeen.  It is just so good!  That was where I originally got the idea to go with pom pom trim curtains, and also where I found the Wonderful needlepoint pillow that I had in my design board.
Well, while I was going through their new stuff Izzy was hovering over my shoulder going, “ooooohhhh!!!!  I want that in my room!  No.  I want THAT in  my room!!!”.  When I pulled up the needlepoint pillow to remind her we were getting that for her room I saw her eyes flash wild as she asked, “Mom.  How awesome would it be if it had my name on it!  Can we do that?!”  And in a moment of pure DIY stupidity mixed in with wanting to please my little girl I said, “Yeah babe!  I could totally make you one!”

Stupid, stupid, stupid.  The thing is, I don’t know how to cross stitch!
So last weekend I went out and gathered my supplies.  I forgot a hoop, but luckily had one that goes to my sewing machine.  Here’s where I am just over a week later.
I’ve been working on this thing constantly and this is all I have to show for after a week.  And my plan is to fill in all the remaining white cross stitch fabric with white thread.  Here’s where you picture me with my forehead on the table.  I wanted to stop after the “I” but Izzy saw it and got so excited I had to keep going.  If I want to get done before she heads out to college this pillow is going to need to be a lot smaller than I originally planned.
Anywho, that’s where I am.  DIY Hell.  Oh, and my shoulder hurts.  I have Needle Point Shoulder.  At age 33.  Ugh.
What projects have you found yourself in over your head with? Did you finish or toss in the towel?
Anyone know how to cross stitch?  I need tips!

Ha! I love this story. You good mamma you! It is hard to say no when you see the excitement in their sweet little faces, isn't it? It looks beautiful so far and just think, she will love that thing for ever. She'll probably take it with her to her first home.

I haven't done it in a long time, but I used to be a cross-stitchin' fool.

Cross-stich take a ton of time! I did one sampler and that was it for me. But it's going to be super cute, Shelley!
