What are your thoughts? Do you even like the look of a drum shade on a fan?

While sharing the bedside table that I refinished in this post, I realized I’ve never shared with you the new dresser we purchased a little over a year ago for our master bedroom. Gosh, maybe even longer?? At this point I have no clue. Anywho, here she is! You guys, this dresser is such an…
I am happy to report – I no longer have an ugly fan light!!! Isn’t she pretty! And, she’s a cheap date too. I only spent $20. Boom. Want to pretty up yours? Here’s what you’ll need: drum shade (with spider fitting) connector nipple fitting How to do it: STEP ONE: Remove bulb shades STEP…
I feel like this has been SUCH a long time coming. The last time Sam had a “finished” room was in his nursery back when we lived in Kansas. He only had that room for a couple of months before we moved to TX. We lived in a rental while we waited on our house…
Things are certainly a little crazy in our world right now. I know some will think I am being flippant to the situation at hand as I share home decor, but I assure you that is not my intentions. When things feel stressful and completely uncertain I seek anything normal. For me that’s escaping to…
I have been feeling the need to refresh our master bedroom. Sometimes it’s nice just to switch things up a bit, you know? Originally, I had much bigger plans but I talked myself out of it. You really don’t have to go all out to make it feel fresh and new after all. Before Refresh…
Home Tours are always so fun to put together. If you have wandered over here from Peonies on Pleasant’s tour, welcome, I am so happy to have you! I realized it has been a while since our master bedroom has been shared on the blog so I thought this would be a great time to…

I am going to be tackling the same problem around m house soon! Every room has a ceiling fan, and although I love them in the summer months and have them running all the time, I really dislike the look. And it's not really in my budget to replace them all. I was also going to try adding a drum shade. I've seen a few images on Pinterest and its definately doable. Thrifty Decor Chic had a great tutorial on how to install one. Let me know how it turns out!

can't wait to see it! I could NEVER live without a ceiling fan so anything to make it less ugly is a plus in my book!
I've seen that new fan too! Our house came with fans like the one in your bedroom, and we just took the blades off and spray painted them white. BIG improvement! But I can't wait to see how you tackle the shade deal!
What a good idea! I do not like the light on ours in our master bedroom or the living room! I'll be keeping an eye out for some nice drum shades.
We have the same sort of lights in our master and I hate them too! I can't wait to see your finished product.
We have a ceiling fan in our bedroom and I just want to get rid of it. Bring be ducted air con I say!
But would like to see how the drum looks 🙂 please post pics!
Oh how I hope your idea works. I also have fans everywhere, but the ones in my bedroom and guest rooms annoy me the most, but covering up my hideous lights is definitely a solution .
I love the drum shade idea! I can't wait to hear how it turns out.
Wow, such a simple change that makes such a huge impact! I love it and now I want to do this to my ugly fan in the MB. Good luck with your move! As a native Texan, I have to say that you are doing the right thing (ha!) but I know how hard it is to leave family and friends! Again–Good luck!
I don’t really like the look of drum shade in a ceiling fan. But it is your house, and what matters is what you want, so go give it a try. That one from Lowes' looks really gorgeous though. That will be worth spending on if you say it is not horribly priced. Staci @ BrooklynFan.com
