back patio | before

August 28, 2014

I mentioned last week that I built a table for our back patio.

It got me rolling on finally fixing up our back patio.  I had already rearrange the furniture in that last picture, but wanted to give you guys an idea of the set up before.  Of course, I forgot to take pictures, so I went out and moved the furniture back into the old arrangement and snapped a couple photos 😀
I had already made a change to the blank fireplace when I took my “before” photos so I had to edit it out so you could see what it really used to look like.  Here’s the view right out of the back door.
And the little chest I was using for a coffee table.
No cushions on the furniture because Archer pulls them off and throws them on the ground so he can lay on them.  And chew his nasty bones.  With mud covering his entire body.  Needless to say the cushions were beyond disgusting.  This had become Archer’s porch.  I didn’t even want to go out there anymore.  In this photo there is torn up pieces of cardboard everywhere.  My guess is it blew over the fence from other construction.  I’m sure Archer thought it was a gift from God and just went to town on it.
This is what I’m planning for the patio.
There will be a new furniture layout, which was hard to layout correctly in a cut and paste photo.  The new coffee table will take the place of the old wooden chest.  I want to add outdoor drapes on either side of the fireplace.  Flank it with some ferns in tall galvanized planters.  Add a rope mirror above the fireplace (which I’ve already DIY’d and will show you later).  And add some pillows, just not sure what yet.
I know black and white striped outdoor curtains have been done and done and done, but I can’t help it.  I like what I like!  Mike is even on board with them.  This is huge people.
Next week I’ll show you some of the changes that have been made and tell you more about the coffee table!
