Lately all I can think about is heading to the beach.  We went out a couple of times last year and had so much fun!  And since I’m thinking about the beach, I’m thinking about swimsuits.  Ugh, swimsuits.  I hate wearing swimsuits.  Loath it.  It’s the only thing I’m not looking forward to about going to the beach (Well, that and the bird poop that totally looked like a shell that I tied to pick up once.  True story).  I think if I had a really special one that I loved, maybe I wouldn’t be so nauseous at the thought of putting it on.  I’m looking for it to be really pretty but also mom-at-the-pool appropriate.  I think I found one.  And of course, a bunch of pretties to go along with it.

one //  How pretty is this suit!!!  The floral is just gorgeous, and I love the high neck and how the waist is defined.

two //  I had a floppy hat like this when Izzy was a baby and I loved it.  Kept my face shaded and the sun from creeping in above my sunglasses.  Best part, it’s under $15!

three //  I always gravitate towards big tortoise sunglasses.  I like the barely there cat eye shape to these.

four //  I would love a pretty beach bag.  This one can pull double duty as a purse and beach bag.  The dipped look on the bottom reminds me of my favorite basket at home.

five //  If I’m going to be wearing such a pretty suit I need something other than my kids’ fish beach towel.  This pretty pink striped one will do!

six //  I recently finished reading Lies and Other Acts of Love by Kristy Woodson Harvey.  You may recognize Kristy from her blog Design Chic.  This is actually Kristy’s second novel, and is the perfect summer read.  I spent a few late nights with this one as I couldn’t put it down.  The two main female characters were easy to fall for while they both navigated what’s in and out of their control.  It was also a reminder as to how much work goes in to making a family, family, and how people and families are never quite as perfect as they seem.  I’m going to be plopping her first novel, Dear Carolina in my beach bag next.

seven // I like the simplicity of these sandals, and that they’re under $50.   My current go-to sandals have zippers on the backs and I’m pretty much over having to zip and unzip every time.

    1. Lovey reminded me so much of my own grandmother, so strong and absolutely the glue that held our family together. I kept picturing her face as Lovey's. Kristy, it was an absolute joy to read! Thank you again so much! I can't wait to go back and read Dear Carolina now!

  2. I loved Kristy's book too!!! So sad when it ended! Such a great beach roundup, that suit is adorable!! I just bought myself a few new suits for a trip this winter and seriously, having a suit you feel good in makes a world of difference!

  3. Sounds quite interesting! Thanks a lot for these details. We hosted a fun party last weekend. The event was simply fantastic and loved the food served too. Truly, it’s now one of our favorite venues in Chicago to host parties.
