Getting closer and closer to finishing up my bedroom changes! Last week I shared with you the new rug, and now today our bedding refresh with The Company Store. There is no better feeling than crawling into a perfectly layered bed at the end of the day. I have been even more excited than usual for bedtime with these latest updates. Read on for tips on how to create a neutral layered bed that is anything but boring. I’ll include a full source list at the bottom of this post along with a coupon code!

Mattress Pad
What started this whole thing was a hunt for a new mattress pad. I purchased our last mattress pad from a discount store and immediately hated it. It was always slipping, didn’t hug the depth of our mattress well, and I could feel it bunching up underneath me at night. We love the feel of our Sleep Number bed so I didn’t want a thick pad/topper just something that would protect our mattress. We don’t eat or drink in bed, nor do we have to worry about our kids coming in and having an accident; however, a waterproof pad will help protect your mattress from allergens and sweat, extending the life of your mattress. Their Quiet Waterproof pad was exactly what I was looking for and had great reviews. It lives up to it’s “quiet” name and has stayed in place nicely.
Organic Cotton Sheets
I think I will forever be a fan of white sheets. They’re a classic base that pairs beautifully with any other bedding you add to them. I went with their organic 300-thread count percale sheets. They have that nice cool, crisp feel to them which I love. They’re a little heavier than our last sheets making them perfect for cooler temperatures.
Something else I want to point out is that our bed is a queen but the pillows we sleep with are king. You’re able to purchase their pieces separately instead of a set which is great for mixing and matching sizes and colors.
Duvet Cover
Texture, texture, glorious texture! My favorite bedding looks are ones that have a mix of textures and tones to them. I chose this duvet cover in natural to break up the white from the sheets and of course for it’s incredible texture. The linen and cotton blend feels amazing in person and I love the relaxed look that the linen adds.
Like I mentioned earlier, we have a queen size bed. I love using a king sized duvet for a couple of reasons: 1) My husband and I both like to have the duvet cover curl up around us and there just isn’t enough cover for both of us with a queen, and 2) I like the oversized look of a larger duvet coming down the sides and end of the bed. It adds to the relaxed look and I feel as though it helps distract from our bedskirt since we don’t have a fully framed bed.
Textured Blanket
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to fall for this blanket as much as I did. I chose this grey blanket because of the color and how the subtle texture complimented the duvet. What I fell hard for was how incredibly soft the gauzy cotton was. It’s basically the most perfect blanket ever. It has a nice weight to it, but it’s breathable so you don’t feel overheated. I’m going to have to pick up another one in the throw blanket size to use on our couch.
Another Bedding Look
I wanted to show you another look with this bedding. The grey blanket was added to the bed as a permanent layer instead of a throw. I added back in my pom pom blanket as a throw to add another white tone in to break up the natural colored duvet.
I used to think that you had to go either white or cream, silver or gold. But, the most interesting looks have a mixture. White and creams work so well together and add much more interest than a single color.
Pillows
The pillows stayed exactly the same in both looks. For shams I went with a standard size that match the duvet. The patterned black pillow helps ground everything and was made using this fabric. The lumbar pillow adds another shade of ivory to the mix and even more texture with the tassels.
I’m so happy with how this bedding refresh with The Company Store came together! Now that things are finished up on this side of the room I need to focus my attention to the dresser side opposite the bed. I’ve already hung a different mirror over the dresser but have yet to start adding wall molding to match the bed side. It will be a fairly simple process, you can see how I did the bed wall here, and should finished off the look of the room.

Ok, so which look between the two do you prefer? Do any of you use a larger duvet cover as well? With the way my husband cocoons and wraps it around him at night I would be left out in the cold without the extra width!
A big thank you to The Company Store for working with me on this project!

NewestI do love the mix of cream and white. Looks so inviting. It’s gotten cold here and it looks so perfect for cuddling. Great job!
I feel like the mixture of cream and white makes this room flow with the rest of the house more now. Helps it tie in with the white drapes and cream sofa in the living room.
beautiful! i love the texture!
That duvet cover feels so good to the touch!
It looks beautiful, Shelley! I love the warm and relaxing feel just in time for colder weather. Happy Tuesday, my friend!
