Hope everyone had an awesome long weekend!  We had dinner with friends and just relaxed.  It was perfect.

Today I’m taking part in the Blog Tour you have probably seen going on in blogland.  I want to give Pam at Simple Details a shout out for inviting me to participate.  Thanks Pam!  Be sure to stop by and check out the awesomeness she has going on over there, it goes a little something like this:

Now it’s time for me to answer a few questions about myself…

How does my style differ from others in my genre?

My method is to use what I’ve got.  I am so stinking cheap 😀 A lot of my DIY projects involve turning something I already have, but may not like in it’s current state, into something I love.  While I might not spend a lot on materials for my projects, I try my hardest to make it look high end.  I think it’s fun to see how little I can spend on a project.  Something I’m sure my husband loves about me!  I also really love decorating with passed down pieces.  Having things around with some history makes a home so much more personal and interesting.

Why do I write?

I started this blog in 2009 soon after becoming a mom for the first time.  I needed an outlet.  BAD.  It started as a place to share what was going on in Izzy’s life and then quickly became the place where I documented the projects I was undertaking in our Kansas house.  Being able to share and chat with like minded people was amazing.  The blogging community is filled with so many creative and lovely women!  Blogging helped me hold on to an important part of myself while trying to find balance in being a new mom.  Even if I couldn’t technically get out of the house, blogging got me out there talking to other women.

What am I working on?

You guys, I am all over the place.  When it comes to projects, I’m like a chicken running around with it’s head cut off.  And if I’m being completely honest, that applies to everything in my life!  I’ll start in on something and soon will hit a creative roadblock.  If I can’t find a solution I’ll let that project “marinate” for a bit (fancy way of saying I throw my hands up in the air and stomp away from it) and then move on to something completely unrelated and the vicious cycle continues.  I can think of 8 projects off the top of my head I’m working on 😀

Having said that, the one that’s getting the most of my attention right now is the back patio.  When we moved into our current house 6 months ago, we just threw our outdoor furniture out there and didn’t give it a second thought.  A few months after that our new puppy took it over to the point that I didn’t even want to go out there.  Now that summer is coming to an end (and hopefully the crazy humid days) I’m determined to reclaim it from the dog!

How does my writing process work?

I’m probably one of the most unorganized bloggers you’ll find.  I don’t have posts planned in advance, a blog calendar, or a schedule.  I do try to post twice a week, but if one night I’m just not feeling like sitting down to write then I don’t.  I also don’t let myself feel bad about not getting a post up.  That took some time to learn.  I’m a wife and mommy first and a blogger second.  If it begins to feel like a chore then it sucks all the fun out of it and it’s the fun part that keeps me going.  When I do sit down to write it’s usually the day or night before the post goes up.  I write like I would talk to a friend and just let it pour out exactly how it sounds in my head.  If something comes out in my writing sounding nutty then so be it!  I do wish there was a way to type in ridiculous voices or strange accents since that seems to be something I do a lot of when I story tell.  My friends can attest to me saying weird stuff all the time 😀

Now for the blogger I am sending the tour on to!

Hi there!  I’m Kirsten Krason from the blog 6th Street Design School.  I graduated with a degree in Interior Design in 2010 and started Kirsten Krason Interiors shortly after.  I’ve recently joined forces with my best friend and Interior Design partner Erin to start House of Jade Interiors.  I love Interior Design.  Creating a beautiful space and watching it change someone’s home is one of the best feelings I can imagine.  I am the mom of two cute kids and I currently live in Utah.  My blog is a journal of the products I’m loving, the design projects I’m working on and my tips and tricks to making your own home a place you’ll love!

Kirsten’s blog was one of the first blogs I started reading.  I absolutely adore her fresh style.  Here are some of my favorites (it was hard to choose!):

Isn’t it all so good!!!  Be sure to check out 6th Street Design School next Monday for a continuation of the tour!
