Earlier this week I made an update to the piano side of our dining room. While planning to do a blog post on that one change it occurred to me that I have never talked about some of the other dining room updates that I’ve made over the last year. So, let’s do that!

Before
These dining room photos were taken a couple of years ago. This would have been during Christmas since our olive tree was moved in here from the living room for the Christmas tree. I loved the wishbone chairs in here, but when we added on to the kitchen I loved them even more in the kitchen nook. That’s when changes first started.
New Side Chairs
When the wishbone chairs were relocated to the kitchen nook I purchased these black spindle back chairs. They have a traditional feel with the spindles but with more modern lines. I loved them so much I did the same style for the desk in Sam’s room.
Rug
Ok, what a difference a rug makes!! I had always wanted a rug in this space but was holding off until the kids were a little older. No need to constantly stress over spilt milk or smashed in food. The time finally came and I went with this gorgeous vintage looking rug. It grounds the room perfectly and the floral pattern plays nicely off of my DIY pressed botanicals.
Candle Sconces
The piano side of the dining room always bothered me because there’s just so much wall space over there. I found these simple iron candle sconces to flank the mirror. They visually widen the space above the piano and are so stinking charming. I could have gone with lighted sconces, but didn’t want to mess with having electrical ran. These were a perfect solution. Oh! I also removed the small antlers I had above the mirror to keep things from being too busy.
Felling pretty content with how things are looking in there right now. Though I have been toying with the idea of a different chandelier. Did you know I’ve had that chandelier since 2012 we lived in Kansas? Check out this blast from the past post of my dining room back then!

More Candle Sconces
The candle sconces were such a hit when I shared them on Instagram so I thought I would include some other pretty ones to consider!

Love the new sconces. Sleek, simple but give some style to over the piano. Rug and chairs really make give a different look to the area. Loving the new mood change.
Thank you so much! It’s definitely feeling more finished in there lately.
