I saw the cutest ceramic ghost garland on McGee & Co., but was taken back by the price of $80. So, last week I decided to use the leftover clay I had from my DIY ceramic napkin rings and make my own. This is such a quick and simple Halloween decor project that would be perfect to do with kids. Each of my ghost shapes were a little different which I think makes this feel a little more special than the inspiration ghost garland. You will definitely want to give this DIY ceramic ghost garland a try!
What You’ll Need
- Oven
- Oven-bake clay – I used Sculpey
- Piercing tool – anything that will create a small hole
- Black Paint
- Paint brushes
- Glaze- I used Sculpey Gloss Glaze
- Black waxed twine
Step One
Roll out even balls of oven-bake clay and shape into your ghost. They can be rolled smooth, but I decided I liked the way they looked with the fingerprint indentions. Pierce a hole towards the top so they can be strung later on.
Step Two
Bake them in the oven according to your oven-bake clay instructions. When done, let them cool completely before moving to the next step.
Step Three
Paint eyes and mouth on with black paint. Once dry, add one or two coats of clear glaze and let dry.
Step Four
String your ghosts on twine and enjoy!
Diffuser + FREE Pumpkin Lantern
Look how cute these ghosts look with the mist coming off my diffuser in our entry!!
I’m sending my new Young Living customers that metal pumpkin lantern for FREE when you purchase a Premium Starter Bundle with my link now through the end of September (or while the pumpkin lanterns last). Also, new customers can get 10% off your purchase by using code SHAREYL at checkout!
Premium Starter Bundles come with your choice of diffuser and twelve oils. I’ve got a bunch of Fall diffuser blends on my other Instagram account @crazywonderfulclean that you can mix up with your new oils that will have your home smelling so good!! I’ve also a welcome kit I will send out to new customers with more fun goodies.
To get the Desert Mist diffuser to fit inside the pumpkin lantern I pulled the decorative cover off. It has a run time up to 10 hours and has a flickering candle light option that is perfect during the holidays.
Think of all the places you will be able to hang this. Over mirrors, art, mantles, along the front of a console, etc. And since it’s custom you can make it the exact length you need! You’ll have to let me know if you make the DIY ghost garland!
THIS is the exact tutorial I was looking for. I saw the price as well and immediately thought, I can absolutely make these. Thank you for saving me $60+ dollars! xo
Yay!! I’m so happy to hear that! It’s nuts how much they are asking for them.
This is adorable! If I ever craft again, I will make this.
Thanks so much, Cassie! You are one busy woman!!
