Gallery Wall Update with Custom Picture Frames

We have lived in this home now for almost five years.  Not long after moving in I installed the gallery wall surrounding the tv our living room.  I used art we already had and quickly made art to fill existing empty frames, all with the intention of tweaking it later.  Here we are five years later, and I’m finally getting to it!

I have partnered with Custom Picture Frames on a few new frames and it was just what I needed to inspire some changes to our gallery wall.  I am so thrilled with how it turned out!  Stick with me because I have a coupon code to share with you guys at the end!

Gallery Wall Before

The smaller frames were bothering me, and I wanted the look to feel a more substantial.  Do you see that pencil sketch of the woman at the top?  That was done by a New Orleans street artist in 1956 of my great-grandmother.  I love that piece.  It’s in it’s original frame that has been broken for as long as I can remember, and it doesn’t have glass protecting it.  I’m beyond excited to finally get it framed properly!

Gallery Wall After

The change isn’t drastic, but it feels so much more thought out.  The frames from Custom Picture Frames are the champagne one my great-grandmother’s sketch is in (their Liscio Argeto), the large white one to its left (Bianca), and the dark wood one to the left of that (Holden).

Custom Picture Frames

The frames arrived quickly and in great condition.  I appreciate that not just one but both sides of the acrylic had a protective coating.

What I liked most about Custom Picture Frames was how simple frame selection and ordering was.  You can order a few different ways; by searching for common frame sizes, or by entering custom dimensions.  For instance, my great-grandmother’s sketch was not a common size, so I simply typed in the dimensions of the paper and it created a custom frame size for me.   The photo fit the frame perfectly without any need to cut the paper.

For the white frame I knew wanted a substantial mat.  After entering the size of my photo, I entered the width I wanted my mat to be and it created the custom picture frame size for me.  Super easy!

You can also choose your preference of hanging hardware.  I chose the standard hook and picture wire.  I find this method to be a little more forgiving when hanging art.  Additionally, you can choose between framer’s acrylic (what I went with), non-glare acrylic (perfect option if your art is opposite a window), or simply the frame only.

When you think of having a frame custom made, I know the initial thought is that it’s going to be really expensive.  However, I found their prices to be very reasonable.  For instance, all three frames came in around $160.  That’s pretty awesome considering I paid that for just one piece of art to be framed at a local craft store!

Art

The pieces of art that made the cut were the two black and white watercolors made by my aunt, a framed craft store feather, and the sketch.  I added a photo taken of the coast from our trip to Ireland (the large white frame), two printable pieces of art from Etsy (the beach print and the wood slice print), and brought in a piece of art from our powder room (the owl print on the far right).
