Well, that was a Halloween to remember this year! The dark clouds rolled in and not a bit of sun was to be found. Rain, rain, and more rain!! Not that it stopped these two from heading out Trick-or-Treating with their friends. I tried capturing what I could with my phone while getting drenched 😀 This year I promised myself I would do store bought costumes. SO MUCH EASIER!!! But, I still love a handmade costume and see myself doing it again in the future. Especially since Sam’s costume request for next year doesn’t exist.
Trick-or-Treating
“Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” Izzy had been asking to be Princess Leia ever since last Halloween. This girl is a Star Wars fanatic. Daddy is so incredibly proud. She will bust out trivia that even my husband doesn’t have a clue about. You should see him when this happens, it’s like his heart is going to burst with pride 😀
COSTUME TIP: Get the look of knee heigh boots by wearing soccer socks over shoes. Check out her Hawk Girl costume’s boots from last year (probably my favorite costume yet) where we even added decorative tape to the socks.
We happened across Sam’s shark costume while at TJ Maxx one day. He saw it and immediately fell in love! He even wore it out of the store and into the shoe store next door. I wish I had a video of him walking around in it. He will shake his body back and forth making it look like the shark is swimming. He ensured me he was a nice shark and even let me call him “My Little Sharky-Poo” whenever he wore it 😀
You should have seen these kids at the end of the night. It was as if they had fallen into a pool they were so wet!
Book Character Day
If you’re not familiar with Book Character Day, that is where the kids are allowed to dress up in costume at school so long as it’s a character from a book. Izzy has been Alice from Alice in Wonderland for the past three years. I am determined to get the most use out of her 2015 Halloween costume! A friend nailed it when she said it looked like she went from small to tall Alice. Here’s Izzy when she first wore it.
Sam went as Peanut Butter from Peanut Butter & Cupcake. It is an adorable book and I can’t wait to check out the other books in the series. I’m just so in love with how his costume turned out! He was most excited that he could bring his soccer ball to school with him.
That’s it! I hope you had a fun Halloween this year, and that you got some of the good chocolate stuff for yourself!
all adorable!!! i love princess leia on izzy and that shark is too fun! and izzy really makes the perfect alice!
Your kids are so stinkin cute!!! And a little rain can’t put a damper on Halloween. Have a Halloween themed birthday party next and get one more use out of the Alice costume (and take advantage of all the Halloween stuff on clearance at Tarjay right now!)
