Some of you may already be in the throws of getting your homes decked out in Christmas splendor, but there may also be some who are holding onto the last bits of Fall before diving in. Before the holiday decorating posts come rolling into your feeds a group of bloggers and I wanted to bring you something different, one last Late Fall Home Tour. What I love so much about this tour is that the styles are all so varied so you get a completely different take on Fall with each home you enter. I hope you enjoy the tour, and even if you have already moved on from Fall, don’t forget to save ideas for next year!

The morning after Halloween I start pulling down all of my bats, crows, and other items and take a few days to enjoy the calm. It’s such a crazy time of the year right around Halloween. There is so much going on at the kids’ school, extra curricular activities, and I just can’t keep our calendar in check during those few weeks. Having a couple weeks of calm decor feels so good right now.
Fireplace + Mirror
Earlier in the season I moved our wood logs out and added candles to the firebox. I love them SO much. We never use our fireplace because it doesn’t get cold enough to mess with it. This gives such a great ambience! There’s a mixture of real and fake candles. The fake candles are on timers so they come on on their own every night.
Soooo…. you might have noticed the new mirror. It’s pretty stinking good, right?? If you follow me on Instagram you’ve already seen it. And if you don’t, you should 😉 It has been up for a few weeks now, but I still just walk into the room to stare at it. I’ve been dreaming about a new mirror since we moved into this house six years ago. But, as I do, I had been making due with one I made almost nine years ago for another house with much shorter ceilings. The amount of reflection we get now is insane. It is so much better suited for this space. More to come on this mirror in another post because there is a whole thing on how to get a beast like this on your wall.
Textiles
My go-to trick for changing up the feel of a room for the season is to shop the house for pillows I can swap out. Earlier this Fall I still had my blues out, but for this Late Fall Home Tour I pulled together khaki, tan, black, grey, and a little rust. Bring out some warm blankets to keep layered on the sofa or nearby in a basket for cool evenings. They’re dual purpose; beautiful and functional.
Coffee Table Decor
I don’t think you can go wrong with dried florals or grasses this time of the year. You’ll see more of them in my tour in a bit. I’m not sure what these particular flowers are/were. When I purchased them last year at the florist they were pretty little purple flowers, and they dried up so nicely that I kept them around. Everything I place in this black vase looks great. It has been one of my favorite purchases this year.
The pumpkin got to keep it’s place and I added in my brass bells that I usually bring out at Christmas. I can’t find this exact set online anymore, but I just got in this set of bells that are very similar.
If you missed some of the kitchen updates I recently made, check out this post.
Fall Dining Room
On the other side of the living room, across from the stairway is our dining room. This room has a very neutral base. In the past I have added more colorful pillows to the head chairs (ok, I have to laugh at myself here because by colorful I mean black or indigo), but I decided on an all colorless route for Fall/Winter and I love it. The small set of antlers above the mirror are a year round staple, but they are certainly right at home this time of the year.
Dried Grasses
Here is where I brought in more dried grasses. You guys, I cannot get enough of them! They are such a great look, the price is right, and you can get a lot of use out of them. These came in a combined bunch at Hobby Lobby for $6.99. I bought two bunches and used a coupon. The deep chocolate color is so pretty against the white vases. This white bead edge bowl is actually DIY you can find a tutorial for here.
I wasn’t thinking about it at the time, but the dried grasses and florals really tie in well with my DIY pressed botanicals on this wall. Below the botanicals, a bread bowl holds a collection of small pumpkins and gourds from the grocery store I used in my Thanksgiving tablescape.

i just love your modern earthy vibe! your home is SOOOO beautiful! that new mirror could not be more perfect for your fireplace, and i love that black vase on your coffee table! my favorite part though is your dining table styling.
Thank you, Cassie! I am so excited about that mirror!!! It’s hard to tell in photos, but it PERFECTLY mimics the arches in the house. It was meant to be. Definitely worth the wait.
Clean and uncluttered…..aaah! I’m loving the calm Fall look between the mental chaos of Halloween and the bustle and shine of Christmas. That brown pillow on the sofa is small but throws a big punch with texture and style. What one.
Then those dried stems in the dining room contrasting with those pretty white vases….the short ones are cute. I’m just done with all the stuff I’ve done in the past and am ready for minimal. Thanks for inspiring me.
You hit the nail on the head with Mental Chaos. There is just so much that goes on! I’m currently in the throws of getting things together for Sam’s birthday this weekend and then I’ll be ready to embrace Christmas decorations. But you me, minimal Christmas decorations 😀
So many fall touches! Looks great! Love the dining chairs!!
Thank you, Stephanie! Those wishbone chairs are just the most comfy chairs ever. I had no idea I would love them as much as I do!
Love your fall decor – It’s check off all the right boxes for me – Neutral ✓ Earthy ✓ Textures ✓ ❤️ Looking forward to your Christmas style.
Oh Suzanne, those are my boxes!!! Makes me so happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Your home is lovely in every way! I love all the texture and textiles. The dried florals and grasses are perfect in your dinning room!
Thank you so much, Kelly! I just couldn’t get enough of the dried florals and grasses this season.
I absolutely love your dining room. It is so serene. Although I have a very different style from yours, it is that serenity that I strive for. The black piano really grounds it also and plays off the dark art on the opposite wall, keeping it from floating off in the paler neutrals.
Yarrow, thank you so much for your comment! There are so many different styles that I find myself drawn to. There is beauty in each and every one of them. That piano is very special to me, it was my grandmother’s. I inherited it several years ago and went back and forth with the decision to refinish it. It was still in it’s original finish when it was given to me, and while it didn’t fit my style, I hated the idea of changing what was once hers. Obviously, I did decide to refinish it, but I think she would approve of it and be thrilled that it is a centerpiece of our home 🙂
I enjoyed your tour so much. I’ve never used dried grasses and florals but they really do have a lovely texture and color and that new mirror is smashing!!
Maybe it is just me getting more lazy this time of the year, but the ease of dried grasses make them even more of a winner 😀 And, thank you about the mirror, I am still on Cloud 9 about it!
That ceiling! And all those natural textures, it’s gorgeous!
Thank you so much, Tina!
I am loving your living room! that mirror is so incredible! Gorgeous home.
I’ve never been so excited about a mirror in all my life 😀 Thank you, Lindsay!
That mirror is amazing! Your entire home is so beautiful, I love all your neutral and organic elements throughout.
Thank you so much, Janelle! It took some serious doing to get that mirror up there, but I’m so glad we didn’t give up!
Beautiful home! What is the interior paint color in kichen/family room/great room area? Thanks!
Thank you, Kathy! Six years in this house and I still love the color. The entire house is PPG Gray Palomino.
