living room progress – gallery wall

I’m slowly, but surely making some progress in my living room.
The most recent change was adding a gallery wall to both sides of the fireplace.
Here’s where I began…

And, here it is as of today…

Muuuuch better.
Some other additions were committing to the black and white drapes, recovering a nasty stool in a black and white stripe, the framed monogram pillows (courtesy of my amazing new sewing/embroidery machine.  Where has this machine been all my life!), and taking down the random clocks for the two pieces of DIY subway”ish” art.
Wonky side of the room before…

Still wonky, but getting better, after…

There is still so much I want to do in here:
  • add in some color
  • add a pretty tray and pretties to go in it for the coffee table
  • find or build a console table to replace the zebra chairs with
  • turning an old double vanity mirror into a large floor mirror for the wall behind the couch
I’m itching to get that floor mirror built.
My parents took down their vanity mirror and gave it to me.  It’s been sitting in our garage for the past few months.  Unfortunately, I can’t fit the monster piece of plywood I need to build it into my SUV.  So it will have to sit there waiting on the inevitable – me pulling into the garage too far and snapping it.  Seriously, every time I pull in I think today is going to be the day I break it and send glass shards into the front of my car.  Ugh.
So, Reeds, if you read this and are planning on going to Lowes anytime soon with the truck, call me 😀

Shelley, the black and white is looking great. Love the drapes and ottoman and the fact that your black and white dog even matches the room!

I'm totally loving the entire room…but my favorite wall has to be the fireplace wall. LOVE the mirror that you made and the gallery walls look AWESOMELICIOUS!

Well, you did it again! Amazing! I just wish I was standing by your fireplace slowly, and carefully looking at each gorgeous picture that you have on your gallery walls. It's my favorite thing to do. I would probably stand there so long that it would be creepy.

It looks great, Shelley! I really like the frames with the huge white mats.

I must know..how do you manage to keep candlesticks on your coffee table with a toddler around? I have NOTHING on mine b/c my daughter would just take it off so she could play. Now with #2, I don't even care when they sit on it. Sigh.

    😉

    I love what you've done in your living room, girl! I just about had a coronary when I saw those zebra print chairs…animal print always adds a certain "je ne sais quoi" in a room (c: I really must adore it because I'm pulling out my fancy french phrase and everything! (c;
