master bath updates

Back in July (holy cow) I mentioned I was wanting to make some small changes to our master bath.  Add shades and drapes behind the tub and replace the ugly towel bar with some art.  Well, it’s now December and I’ve finally gotten to it!

The changes weren’t major, but they made a HUGE difference.  Here’s what it looked like before.  Plain window and the dreaded towel bar.  I don’t know why those bars drive me so bonkers, but they do.
WINDOWS – I added the same bamboo roman shade from Blinds.com that I have throughout the rest of the house.  I really do love these shades, and the natural color does so much to warm up the space.  I think bamboo shades are a lot like a nude pump.  They go with EVERYTHING.

I decided to hang it several inches above so the window would look larger, and so that I wouldn’t loose any of the natural light that’s so great for putting on my makeup.  The curtains were hung on a DIY curtain rod I made out of electrical conduit.  Again, hung high to make the window appear larger.
ART – In place of the towel bar I hung a large print of the California coast I took while Mike and I were vacationing a few years back.  I think this is near Carmel.  I had it printed off through SnapBox on their paper prints and it turned out gorgeous!  I always worry about having a photo blown up to a large scale, thinking it will look distorted, but it couldn’t have more pleased.  The colors are amazing and everything is so crisp.  Printing off one of your own images is so much cheaper than purchasing art prints, and it’s personal.

So… do you guys still think I’m crazy for adding curtains behind the tub or are you now converted??  And who else is ditching their towel bars?
I rest my case 😉

I have the shades in my kitchen and love them! I want them for our living room next. Your print above the tub is gorgeous! I need to start taking better shots from our vacations so I have something to hang in all my empty frames :/

They truly are the best blinds! When I was snapping this picture I never intended for it to be hanging up, but it totally worked out. Now I just need to talk my husband into another vacation so I can take more photos 😉
