master bathroom hardware | progress

August 12, 2014

We’ve got vanity hardware happening in the master finally!  We’ve been without cabinet hardware in here for so long that I’ve actually had to remind myself to use the knobs instead of pulling the drawers open from the top.
I wanted something simple and found these oil rubbed bronze little oval knobs in stock at Lowes.  I placed them horizontally on the drawers and vertically on the doors.
For the dummy drawers under the sink (those things always drive me crazy for some reason) I wanted to do something different.  It bothered me to leave them plain, but I knew didn’t want knobs.  The perfect solution?  Keyhole hardware.  Or if you’re wearing your fancy pants – escutcheon.

I ordered these in the solid brass and spray painted them oil rubbed bronze to match the knobs.  You can order them in an oil rubbed bronze looking finish, but Ms. Cheapo saved herself $4 a piece by getting the brass ones and spray painting them.  Done!
I used super glue to attach them to the drawer fronts, and once they were secure, slightly sanded the edges so some of the original brass showed through.  You totally can’t tell in the photos, but it helped them match the knobs a little better.
I just love those darn things!

I also found a carved wooden side table at TJMaxx that I’m using as a stool for putting on makeup in the morning.  It’s pretty darn perfect.
Before knobs…
and after.
A lot of times it’s the simple changes that make me the happiest.
Now onto the not so simple change… what to do about the mirrors in here.
