Blankets are a one of those functional accessories that immediately make a room feel cozy and lived in. They are great for curling up under on the couch or favorite chair, keeping you warm in bed on a chilly night, and the right one can be used as an accessory instead of tucked away when you’re not using it. No doubt you’ve seen Moroccan pom pom blankets used in some of your favorite bedrooms on the internet. They are full of character and give a room that effortless “hey, I’m cool and worldly” vibe. I’m going to share with you how I’ve used them in our home, the sizes that work best, and some favorites I’ve rounded up.

How To Use Them
Long and Loose
My favorite place to use these blankets are in the bedroom. I always place the blanket over our duvet cover. For the above look in our master, loosely gather the blanket across the top so the tassels fall long over the sides of the bed. Pull the flat part of the blanket all the way over the foot of the bed to the floor for a casual, laid back look. I especially like doing this in our master because I’m not a fan of our bedskirt and the blanket hides it when draped this way.
For our queen sized bed I use a 94″x118″ blanket. You should still get plenty of draping over the sides using this size of blanket on a king.
Faux Duvet Cover
For a more buttoned up look pull your duvet cover and the blanket (tassel sides along side of bed) all the way up to the top of the bed. Then fold the duvet cover and blanket halfway down toward the foot, and then back up toward the top halfway. This sounds way more complicated than it is.
This is with a 94″x118″ blanket on our queen sized bed. It’s a little longer on the other side of the bed than it is here. It would look more like this with the tassels touching all the way around if you had a king.
Draped at the End
In my daughter’s room her Moroccan blanket is entirely gathered up and draped at the end of her bed. I love how the tassels on her blanket have an extra long braid before they start.
For her queen sized bed I used a 59″x98″ blanket.
Here’s the same look in our master. This is the 98″x118″ on a queen. The other side pools longer on the floor than this side. If you don’t want it hanging extra long on the sides of your queen sized bed you can go with a 59″x98″.
Tassels at the Foot
You can also fold the blanket so that the tassels are hanging over the foot of the bed. I love how versatile these blankets are.
Again, this is with the 98″x118″ blanket on a queen sized bed. With this look the blanket won’t flow completely over the sides and touch the ground. It would still work with a king sized bed.
Living Room Throw Blanket
You are certainly not bound by just using these blankets in the bedroom. Most come in multiple sizes, the smaller ones being perfect for using in the living room. You can fold them over the back or arm of a chair, or even toss it in a nearby basket with those pretty pom poms hanging out.
A 59″x59″ would be a great size for using in the living room.
Moroccan & Other Great Tassel Blankets
I’ve included the two Moroccan blankets we have in this round up (No. 1 and 2) as well as some other tassel blankets that would make a great addition to any bedroom or living space. All of the Moroccan ones come in multiple sizes. Be sure to check your measurements before ordering. No. 3 (I’ve got my eye on you) and No. 4 are not as large as the Moroccan ones, but are still great for layering at the foot of the bed.

Have you tried Moroccan pom pom blankets in your home yet? It’s definitely my favorite bedroom blanket. It was even top on my daughter’s wish list when I gave her a bedroom makeover. I don’t blame her!
