Nativity Scene Makeover

I have always wanted to find a mid sized nativity scene to place in our home for Christmas.  During Thanksgiving I picked up this nativity that my mother-in-law had packed away for years which was perfect for a nativity scene makeover.  It was the perfect size, but the colors felt out of place in our home.  There is nothing a little paint can’t fix!  I pulled out some white chalk paint I had laying around, and one coat later it went from this…

…to this!  The nativity scene now perfectly ties in with our home, and I am head over heels in love with the more simplified look.

Add in some Spanish and preserved moss (both found at my local craft store) to extend the floor of the manger and to soften the transition.

Do you have a set in need of a nativity scene makeover?  You still have time to bust this project out!

it looks perfect in your home, shelley! mine is also colorful and white would be awesome, but it was the one i grew up with so i just can’t do it! plus they are all hand painted in italy so i i would feel bad… but i may have to look for a second set to do this to!
