need some advice

August 2, 2012

Ok, all you mommas and/or pregnant ladies out there, I need some advice.
Sleeping has become an absolute chore.  As in I dread when the clock rolls around to bedtime.  Not because I’m not completely wiped and exhausted, but because I can’t get comfortable enough to fall asleep or stay asleep.  I’m only 23 weeks pregnant, but already miserable.  And, I don’t want to be where I was when I was pregnant with Izzy.  Towards the end of that pregnancy I would just sit up in bed crying at night because I was so uncomfortable.  Yes, I’m a big baby if I can’t get sleep.
I’m thinking about getting one of those ridiculously large pregnancy pillows, but need some advice as to which one to get.  Here are a couple I’ve seen online, but if you have one that you loved and I didn’t include it be sure to tell me about it!

The long Boppy pillow is what I had. I loved that is went between my legs, which made my back pain subside and sleep more barable. However, I did not like the head portion of the pillow. It wasn't very comfortable but mostly it was just in the way…Especially for my husband. We had zero room in our queen bed with this pillow. I suggest getting one that just goes between your legs then using your normal pillow. However if you have a bigger bed than this might work. Good Luck! *I know how you feel.:)

i had the snoggle and loved it! Do you exercise? Doing some exercise in the evening can help you sleep better, even if it's just going for a walk! Good luck, I had trouble sleeping the first time around too.

Aw! Def been there (3 times!) I'm a belly sleeper, so I used my boppy pillow (the original one for nursing) made it like a donut and put my belly in the middle, then I would put another pillow under my chest to kind of even out my body. Hope you find something that helps!

I love my Boppy Total Body Pillow….I have been using it since I was about 16 weeks, but now that I'm 32 weeks, I am definitely seeing the benefits! We do have a king bed, but I don't see that it takes up too much room as much of the pillow is under your body. Hubby even loves to sneak in a nap every once in a while with the Boppy…I don't see this pillow going anywhere once the baby is here. 🙂

I had a king size bed pillow that worked good. I'm with ya on the lack of sleep thing. I am not a happy person if somethin' is messin' with it.

Oh, that's such a bummer! I didn't have either, but def found it more comfortable to have a pillow under my stomach when I was on my side…took the pressure off my back. I hope you find something that works for you!

I loved my snoogle!!! Don't know what I would have done without it.

I had a snoogle – but kicked it out because it was either the pillow or my husband. Seriously – in our queen size bed there was not room for all 3 of us. As tempted as I was to tell him to go find a different bed, I don't sleep well without him in bed with me – so I ended up just using a pillow to prop under my belly. Worked just as well, without all the bulk of the big huge snoogle!! Good luck….I know that uncomfortable feeling all to well…. x's 3!!

I used the Boppy and absolutely L-O-V-E-D it! I couldn't sleep without it.

I'm 31 weeks and I've tried the snoogle but I hated it. I change sides throughout the night and I had to keep rearranging it to feel comfy. Never tried the boppy though. Now I'm sleeping on the ouch since none of the bedrooms are ready yet. Sounds bad but it's the most comfortable that I've been. Good luck. You shouldn't be losing sleep now. That will come soon enough;)

I just used my trusty body pillow (left over from college), but I've heard great things about those Mommy pillows (but also $$$).

I bought the Boppy pillow and hated it. It would twist up and around and the insides never were right. I ended up using a cheap $9 body pillow for awhile.

I used the BOPPY pillow and LOVED it!! I also took Tylenol PM which helped too. My doctor said it was fine because it was Tylenol…you might ask your doctor…it was a lifesaver!!!
