A little background story for you first. When we built our house the plan was always to change out the builder grade light fixtures. I know that sounds kind of silly, but since it wasn’t a custom build we couldn’t bring in whatever light fixtures we wanted, we could only choose from what they had available. We weren’t thrilled with the options. Given that, we went with a lighting package that had bathroom vanity lights we liked and then just planned to switch everything else out over time.
Most of the fixtures have been switched out, but the one that bothered me the most was still here. The dust collecting beast in our two-story entry. Ugh. There’s no getting those glass shades clean and they keep getting worse. It drives me nuts. We’ve been waiting to change this one since it has to be hired out due to the height.
For Christmas, my husband had me a pick out a new chandelier for the entry way and I couldn’t be more ecstatic!!! So long sucka! Here’s what I chose:
Oh, and I even came across a smaller 9-light version of the new entry chandelier here for under $200 that is definitely worth sharing!
Since we’re going to have an electrician here with a massive ladder, we figured we might as well have him change out our living room fan. Now, in a perfect world, I would put up a chandelier in here. It would look AWESOME. In fact, my friend and neighbor has this one up in her living room (we have the same floor plan) and it’s jaw dropping. But, I’m an angry person when I get too hot, so a ceiling fan to help move air around in the summer is a must. The one we currently have really is perfectly fine. The bowl is another dust and dead bug collector though. The light kit on the bottom does nothing to add to the light in the room. And well, you probably know my feeling about boob lights.
Do we live in the same house? Lol! We did the same thing and chose the basic lighting package. I thought by now I would have changed the lighting, but yikes it's expensive and then add in the price of hanging from ceilings that high it's been hard to justify. I hope we'll change ours out soon too. I can't wait to see what yours looks like!
It is so expensive 🙁 I've been doing a mix of high (well, high to me) and low to keep it manageable. Still takes my breath away when I look at the prices of lighting. And then there's having to pay the electrician. Yuck. If I could shimmy my way up a two story ladder without freaking out I'd do it myself. Just not that brave 😀
I was looking around the living room yesterday and realized I have never really talked about some of the changes I have made in here. This post is picture heavy, but you’ll now be in the loop. I’ll stick a source list at the bottom. We finally pulled the trigger on the chairs late last…
I was in Homegoods a few weeks ago and they had just put out their Fall/Halloween items. So many fun pieces! While there I noticed a woman whose cart was LOADED with all things Fall. All I kept thinking about was how much all of that seasonal decor was going to cost. There are so…
There are a couple of things under construction right now. First up, and most excitingly, around the first of the year I mentioned how I wanted to add a window seat with storage to our playroom in this post. If you follow my stories on Instagram then you may have already seen a sneak peek…
I hope everyone is enjoying summer so far! We’re already getting lots of hot days and, “I’m so bored!!” over here already 😀 I wanted to share with you guys some fun news. Real Simple just posted an article, Low-Cost Ways to Make Your Bathroom More Spa-Like, that you should totally check out because our…
I’ve had most of the house decorated since the day after Thanksgiving. I’m practically itching to get my tree up as soon as dinner is over with. I like getting to rediscover the decorations I got on sale after Christmas the year before. Sort of like a pre-Christmas present 🙂 (BTW, if you look in the…
…the first thing you’re going to need are the balls to get started! This is my grandmother’s piano I have so many fond memories of sitting at this piano with my grandmother as a child. To me it was magical. When the piano came to me I had no plans to change it, just leave…
