New to Me Vintage Rugs

April 7, 2021

Some items are brought into a home for necessity and some because you just love them and they bring you joy. I have recently brought in a few items just because I loved them, but I’m pleasantly surprised by how functional they are. Meet my two new to me vintage rugs. And, be sure to check out the coupon code I have for you!

Powder Room Vintage Rug

I talked about my love of tiny rugs in this post. Recently I put another one in our small powder room, and it immediately upped the charm. Plus, standing on a soft rug beats standing on hard tile any day of the week. Look at how cute she is in here!

Kitchen Vintage Runner

The kitchen had been calling for a wider runner and I also wanted a rug with a little more personality. As soon as I spotted this beauty I clicked purchase. Well, I did run into the kitchen and measure first, but it was love at first sight. The larger size fits our kitchen much better, and I just adore the way it looks in here.

Is a Vintage Rug Practical?

While the thought of a vintage rug in a messy/high traffic area like a kitchen might seem impractical, they are actually a great choice. If the rug is made of wool it will be easier to clean because the fiber is naturally stain resistant. We have already had a few spills on our kitchen runner and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it cleaned with a damp cloth. While our kitchen rug is on the lighter side, darker rugs or ones with more pattern will be even more friendly should you develop a stain that you just can’t completely remove. And worse case scenario, they can always be sent out for cleaning.

As far as general wear goes, vintage rugs are typically hand knotted making them very durable. They can handle high traffic areas and still look great. Think about it this way; that rug has already been around block and used for years before showing up at your house. But don’t worry, they are cleaned before they get to your place.

Your First Vintage Rug

If you’ve been wanting to try the look in your home, but don’t want to pull the trigger on a big rug, I suggest trying out a tiny one first. That’s what I did because they’re affordable. I call it my gateway rug because now I’m completely addicted. They’re great in front of sinks, laundry rooms, bathrooms, or smaller entry ways. Even the smallest rugs add so much charm to a space. For me it’s their imperfect nature that I can’t get enough of.

Coupon Code

I picked up both of these new to me vintage rugs from Revival. They have a ton of one-of-a-kind rugs (as well as brand new rugs like my living room rug) to choose from. If you find something you like, use code CRAZYWONDERFUL10 for 10% off your purchase.
