Stopped by the build site today and saw that they are finally getting started on the new house!!!

So, here’s how my brain works.

Seeing this gets me excited about changing up the decor once we get moved in.  Which gets me thinking about how I’m wanting white drapes in the new living room.  Which then leads to me putting our bedroom curtains up in the living room  just so I can see what white drapes would look like next to our off white couch.  Next thing I know pillows are flying around the house, fabric scraps are tossed over pillows…

and a wingback chair is less than gracefully yanked out of my daughter’s room and hauled down stairs.  No one was hurt in this process, but there was a large amount of cussing under my breath and almost taking a door off the hinges.  Again, just so I can see what a living room set up could look like.  It’s a problem.

Anywho.  Turns out me likey the wingback.  It doesn’t really work in this space (and Izzy threw a mega hissy at the thought of loosing her bedroom chair) but I’m definitely going to be checking out Craiglist for a pair of wingbacks that I can slipcover for the new place.

I promised my husband I wasn’t going to do/buy anything until we got into the new house, but I figure a couple of neutral slipcovered wingbacks could go anywhere and with anything.  Kinda like a nude pair of pumps, am I right?

So, how do you guys get when trying to visualize decor changes?  Are you the type that can sit back and stare at the space, seeing it all in your head?  Or, do you have to get in there and set up temporary scenarios before going forward?  I’m both.  I spend far too much time staring, and far too much time playing around 😉

  1. I'm just like you. I will move anything at anytime, just to get a feel for how the space will look. I think I am much stronger than I really am too. Can't wait until you can start shopping!

  2. I have to wait until we're in to shop, too. And at that time, I'll have, like, a one-day old baby…so essentially I'll be waiting much longer than that. Ugh…and yes, I agree, you can't go wrong with some neutral wingbacks so go for it!!! Can't wait to watch the progress on your house.

  3. I still haven't decided on anything yet for our house. Hoping to start getting things together in the next few weeks – we'll see. Glad to read things are going well!
