We all love a good kitchen transformation. They usually always involve cabinets being painted, and I have yet to get over the power of paint. Today I’m bringing you one of the smaller variety. Our play kitchen makeover!
Before
When Izzy was around two years old I make her a play kitchen using plans from Ana White. For whatever reason, I painted the darn thing red. Honestly, the kids could have cared less what color it was but it always bugged me.
After
Since I’m working on fixing up the playroom and was painting another piece of furniture I decided to turn the paint brush loose on the play kitchen. I used this play kitchen from Pottery Barn as my inspiration. Holy cow, what a cute kitchen it turned into!
This was a pretty quick makeover using Amy Howard One Step Paint. It actually only took two coats to cover up that red! The cabinet bases are Selznick Grey and the counter tops are Metropolitan Grey. I removed the skirt from the sink cabinet and added a little basket to hold additional kitchen items. The floating shelves are probably my favorite addition. I picked those up at Hobby Lobby and added some small plates, bowls, and cups. We actually didn’t have any plates or cups before so the kids are thrilled about them. And interestingly enough, they are playing with the kitchen more now than ever before!
