Well another month has completely blown past. How does this year seem to be gaining speed? In my last post I shared the plans for a refresh of my son’s room. Honestly, I had planned on having a full reveal for you guys at this point. But instead of holding off even more until things were completely finished, I wanted share where we were at with Sam’s bedroom progress. I’ll share a source list at the end. For a refresher, here’s what his room looked like.

Bedroom Before

Bedroom in Progress

Already so pleased with where it is at right now. I’ll break up what has changed for far.

Bedding

Boy oh boy what a HUGE difference new bedding made for the room. I could have done just that and it would have completely changed the feel of his room. This striped sheet set was a perfect base layer to build upon and was under $40! I found this linen blend duvet and sham set for a great price. And, the textured blanket is an absolute dream. I pulled this pillow I made out of the playroom just to see how it would look and decided to keep it here.

Art

The art is different from the original design board. This canvas wrapped surfboard print snugged perfectly into the deep frame of his previous art. I’m not sure it will stay because I really have my heart set on the art I originally chose. But he loves this one so much, and it’s his room not mine, so I need to just let it go.

Nightstand + Desk

You can sort of see the mid-century nightstand and matching desk that replaced his old nightstands. Sam was ecstatic when he saw them in his room!

Chair

Since I snapped this photo I did get around to painting the natural wood chair black. It looks so great with the bed.

Left to Do

  • Simplify art over dresser on opposite side of room
  • Touch up wall paint
  • Contain the stuffed animals
  • Add pinboard behind bedroom door
  • Accessorize

So, what do you think so far? Feels so much more calm in there now. Never underestimate the power of new bedding!
