Checking in with you all for Sam’s bedroom update! If you didn’t know I was giving his bedroom a makeover, check out the plans I shared in this post. I’m so close to being done in there! Just waiting on some last minute items to arrive, but I wanted to show you where it’s at now.

Desk Side

This was the side of his room I was most concerned about coming together, but it has turned out great! This desk was the splurge item I bought for his room, but it couldn’t be more perfect. The pinboards are a DIY I’ll share soon, and his customized neon (led) sign is so fun at night.

I do still need to paint this side of the room. It will be staying this color, but the walls are in rough shape and need repainting. You can probably tell in the photo below by his bean bag chair just how bad they are. That was all from his hanging chair getting repeatedly slammed into the wall when he was little.

Bed Side

Sam got his one black wall as requested and I love it. The color is Sherwin-Williams Urbane Bronze. It’s a very warm black that works well with the existing PPG Paints Gray Palomino on the other walls and ceiling.

I brought in the rug from our home office which is the softest thing you will ever walk on. No wonder he wanted it for his bedroom, it feels like faux fur. The dark drapes, which match the shower curtain in his bathroom, are a great bridge between the black and white walls.

Two things that are different from the original design board are his bed and nightstands. Initially, Sam wanted a dark fabric bed. The bed was going to be where I saved money. I thought about building him a bed similar in style to the one I built for our primary bedroom. Then I found this bed at a great price (under $500, free shipping, and arrived in two days) and planned to recover it in darker fabric. But once we had it installed we both loved it as is. The existing boucle fabric is so pretty! It looks like a much more expensive bed than it is.

The nightstands were another switch from the design board. The plan was to use his existing MCM nightstand and purchase a second one for the other side of the bed. I just couldn’t get over the feeling they were too small for his room. I found some larger ones that fit the space better, give him much more storage space, and are priced oh so nice. You’ll see more of those in the reveal.

What do we think of his bedroom updates so far? I can tell you Sam is thrilled with them which makes me so happy.

This it an awesome room for Sam now. More functional and doesn’t appear to only serve his gaming needs😄. That bed is so inviting and the new striped duvet and bamboo sheets, are great choices. He’s gonna be happy with this till he’s off to college. Love this💕
