settee for the bedroom

A few years ago I was given this old settee from my mom that she no longer wanted. I intended to redo it while we were in our last house, but never got around to it.
While we currently don’t have the space for it in our rental, we should have enough space in our new master to place it at the foot of the bed.
The leopard print floral will have to go, but trust me when I say it actually looked really cool at the time she did it.
Here’s a mock up (thanks to a black maxi and some scarfs) of what I’m thinking of doing. Black body with a wide white stripe down the center. I’m still torn on what to do with the wood.
These images have me thinking the “racing stripe” needs to happen.
But then this purdy one makes me think I should go one solid color.
Thoughts?? As far as the wood part goes, do we like it as is? Do the liming wax look like the above photo? Or maybe a grayish chalkpaint like the image below?
I figure I might as well bust this thing out so I can have it ready by the time we get in the new place. I’m getting antsy.

NewestGreat find! I love it 🙂 xo Kristin
What a gorgeous piece to inherit from your Mom – I have a board just for settees because I love them so much –
Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Off to pin lol

I love the idea of a wide stripe down the middle and I was totally smitten with your lime wax table. I can't wait to see this beauty made over.
oooh YES! I love that!!!! Emmy now has a settee at the foot of her bed and i need to redo it somehow. i am scared.
Can't wait to see it! You always make things gorgeous! I like the finish of your breakfast table too or I think the gray chalkpaint as in the sample pic would look great with your headboard. That's my two cents. 🙂
So cool! Is there a way you could make the wide stripe not so permanent, and have the option to remove it if you get tired of it? I love the dark wood against the lighter fabric, but think it might look too dark next to black. It's gorgeous whatever you decide, what a fun makeover this will be!
I love your idea of the racing stripe. I think it looks great with the bleached wood. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
I like the stripes and love the gray chalk paint. White with grey stripe or black maybe? Looks like it would unify the bedding in your room. Can't wait to see what you decide on!
I'm digging the stripe!
The black/white fabric you've chosen would really pop against an antique gold painted frame!
