Remember my teaser from the other day?
Well, I finally lugged her down the stairs so I could get some pictures 🙂
Here she is!
My slipcovered wingback!
Some close ups of the piping and arms.
My favorite part is still the skirt.
I used Miss Mustard Seed’s tutorial. It was such a great tutorial, I highly recommend looking at it even if you’re doing something other than a wingback. It really wasn’t difficult to do, and only took a few days of working during Izzy’s nap times to complete.
Breakdown of the project:
-
9×12 painters drop cloth (8oz) – $20.00
-
cording to make piping – $8.00
-
chair – FREE!
$28.00!!!
Added bonus is that I have enough leftover materials to make a slipcover for an ottoman!
Now I just need to find her a home in my house. Preferably without having to take ‘ol girl back up the stairs 😀

NewestWow! You did a fabulous job! Slipcovers totally intimidate me and I have a chair that I'm dying to make one for, but I'm too chicken!
Wow! That turned out great! You should be so proud of that slipcover.
Yowza, you are amazing!!
Wow this is beautiful!!
I love love the skirt!
You did an amazing job!!
Pamela 🙂
You amaze me. Did you make that pillow too? And did you get new curtains? We are moving in.
That looks so good. I wish I could sew like that.
Get out… that is so fun! I love it, and the drop cloth is so durable. Yeah for you!
Your slipcover is divine! I too love the skirt the best. TFS!

You did such a good job! It is beautiful
great job! I love the painter's cloth idea! Fabric can be so much more expensive!
Shelley, this turned out fantastic! I watched MMS's tutorial and I don't even have anything to slipcover, it was good! I would also like to add, I love your chipper (I just ordered some in yellow) drapes and the chevron ruffle pillow, very nice!

this looks amazing!! just found your blog from Simple Home Life link party…great job!
Fantastic job!! I'm going to tackle my wing back now!
Thanks,
Kaye
Love this! It looks just awesome! I really want a wingback chair for my living room but all I've seen is ones with not so pretty upholstery or really $pricey$ ones. I try and keep it thrifty in the house so spending a bunch of mula on one chair is not something I want to do. And reupholstering something is a lil much for me right now. This is AWESOME! I'm going to keep my eye out for a wingback chair and then whip out my sewing machine!
Did you follow a pattern or did you make one?

WOW, beautiful! That skirt is divine! i love the fabric too!
Beautiful slipcover! Well done.
That looks so good! Like it was sewn by a professional. Great work!
It looks so fantastic! Simple and elegant but not stuffy. Love it!
Your chair looks great. I made a wingback cover this week and I am working on the 2nd of the pair this weekend using the same tutorial and it makes it so much easier. I have a question though, is the drop cloth stiffer to work with? I used cotton twill for mine and I am hesitant to use the drop cloth.
I am just amazed at anyone who can do this. You did a fabulous job. Gorgeous!! It seriously makes me want to search craigslist for a wingback right now. :0 Have a great weekend.
Shelley this is absolutely STUNNING. I have a wingback chair I got a month ago off the curbside and it's been sitting because I couldn't decide if I should slipcover it or reupholster it. I think you just convinced me to slipcover it, I think. LOL. I'd love to have you link this to my VIP party today! http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/03/vip-party-9.html
Absolutely LOVE it!! What a fantastic job you did- it looks amazing now!! Well done- thanks for sharing at FNF! 🙂
So, are you a natural or have you done this before? I've heard about MMS's tute. I'm going to have to take a look. I know it's not terribly hard once you get passed the procrastination. It's just a big puzzle. Although I have to admit, yours looks absolutely flawless. And the details! Fastastic job!
-Bethanie
Shelly, Would you post your own tutorial on the wingback how to? I have a wingchair ready to go. And what is MM's tutorial? Please let me know…thanks!
What an amazing transformation!
