stacked topiary – tutorial

Do you remember the design board I won from Kristy at Hyphen Interiors that I posted about here?
For the mantel, she suggested a sunburst mirror and flanking it with topiaries.
Sunburst – check.
Topiaries – dragging my buns…
until a couple of days ago.
I was pretty happy with how the first one turned out so I decided I’d do a tutorial for you guys while putting together the second.
-
styrofoam spheres, one small and one medium
-
straight branch
-
sheet moss
-
oasis floral foam
-
small pot
-
hot glue gun and glue
STEP ONE: Push the branch all the way through the larger styrofoam sphere, and push the tip of the branch halfway through the smaller sphere. Sort of like a shish kabob 😀 Once the spheres are placed to your liking, use your hot glue gun to run a bead of hot glue around where the sphere and branch meet to keep them from sliding.
STEP TWO: Attach moss to spheres with hot glue.
STEP THREE: Place oasis foam in the bottom of the pot and stick in your topiary.
STEP FOUR: Hot glue moss to the top of the oasis.
Bada bing, bada boom, you’re done 😀

This looks so simple!!! I want to make bigger topes for inside my double front doors. Do you think this could be done with the same instructions?? What size balls though??? Thanks.
I made larger ones for outside the front door using the same technique but using large grapevine spheres. It's MUCH more cost effective than buying huge styrofoam balls! Hope this helps!
