This want is actually more of a need.
We didn’t have guttering placed on the sides and back of our house. A cost saving decision made during our build. Now that we’ve had some pretty substantial rains here in Houston, it’s becoming a bit of a problem.
We now have this happening next to our back porch. It’s carving a canyon into our yard.
You can’t tell from the picture, but that hole is DEEP.
I’m thinking instead of having plain guttering installed, we could do something a little more fun and a lot prettier (oh and A LOT cheaper). Rain chains, baby! I just love the look. Here are some I’ve been eyeing lately.

Love this idea. They are so pretty. XO
How cool! I've never heard of these but I think they're awesome!
I'm totally intrigued by this idea – I've never heard of it before but the inspiration images are beautiful!
I just recently saw these online. Where does the water go? I'm assuming these are for houses without basements.
Never heard of it before. So would you just dump the container of water after each rain?
Don't rain chains have to hang from guttering though? I thought they needed to feed into a drain system at the bottom too? They look great though if you can make it work!
Every house in Portland has them. Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but they're typical around here. Generally going into rain barrels. I love them.
