Are you ready for something that will blow your mind? I came across the best lamp hack that I must share with you. Everyone needs to know about this because it’s that good!! You may have already seen it on my Instagram, the sucker went viral. A few months ago I saw Myquillyn, The Nester, share the hack she saw from Megan Miller and I immediately ran through the house to see if it would work. It did. It’s perfect. You’re going to want to try it out for yourself. Here’s what you’re going to do.

What You’ll Need

  • old lamp
  • large pot or vase
  • lampshade

I had this lamp that I wasn’t using, and honestly, it was set aside to donate. But luckily I still had it because it was the perfect size for the pot I had in mind. Now the size of lamp is going to depend on the size of pot or vase you’re wanting to use. Obviously you’ll need a slim lamp if you’re planning on using a pot/vase with a narrower opening. If you don’t already have one, a thrift store is a perfect location to pick one up because it doesn’t matter what it looks like.

I’ve been collecting these vintage black pots and knew it would be amazing as a “lamp base”. All you do is sit the lamp inside and top with an appropriate sized shade. That is it!! No tools required.

The cord simply lays over the top and back of the vase, and in my case isn’t noticeable at all. If you want to drill a hole into your pot or vase to feed the cord through the bottom, you can certainly do that. I just didn’t want to damage this particular pot. An alternative solution is to use a rechargeable or battery operated light bulb. However, I’m so over everything needing to be charged. The cord cannot be seen unless your head is pressed against the wall.

Isn’t it great?!! I’m so thrilled with how this turned out! A large lamp like this would cost several hundreds of dollars. Just think of all the fun pot and lampshade combinations you could make.
