What do a trip to the hospital and faux fur have in common?

Me!

I’ve been having SEVERE pain  below my ribs for several months now.  Saturday morning around 3:00 am it got so bad I just sat and cried.  Made a call to an after hours paging service and was told to take more Lortab, and if I couldn’t get sleep to go in to the hospital.  Not wanting to take more pain medicine I tried toughing it out until later in the day.  By 3:00 pm my husband basically threw me into the car and off to the hospital we went.

After getting all hooked up they told me I was having pretty regular contractions, although no change in dilation.  Later they told me I was dehydrated and had a bladder infection.  Both were probably causing the contractions and rib pain.  After getting a bag of fluid it was back to the house for me.

Still having random contractions and the rib pain.  I’m planning on making a call this morning to double check things with my doctor.  The rib pain is what’s got me worried.  It just feels really wrong.

Anywho, onto more fun things.

I snagged up a faux fur throw and am all snug as a bug in it on the couch.

And, as you might have noticed from the picture, the Christmas decorations are up!  Just have a few things more to do, but if baby shows up sooner than later I feel pretty darn good about the progress made.  Big thanks to my mom for helping me get it all up.  I seriously couldn’t have gotten it done without her.

That’s all folks!  Off to down more water.

What about gall stones? I had them (before I was pregnant) and they were TERRIBLY painful. I hear they get worse with pregnancy. Just something to look into! Hope you feel better!

  2. Oh my gosh, how scary!!!
When I was pregnant with The Kid, I had horrifying back pain. Doc just kept telling me that it came with the territory. They finally sent me to physical therapy. After several sessions, the therapist asked if I had been tested for a bladder infection. Low and behold, a few rounds of antibiotics later, I was pain free.
Hope the fam lets you take it easy.

  3. Hope you feel better! Just a little thought for you…I had VERY similar symptoms, terrible pain in my ribs that would come and go, and when it came..it was horrible!
I went back and forth to my OB three times and each time they said it was no big deal…the baby kicking me, or the nurses would say it was "my first baby" and "was not used to how late pregnancy feels". GRRRR! i just knew something wasn't right though.

It ended up being my gallbladder…I was having severe attacks and had to be induced 3 weeks early so they could remove it a week after my delivery.

Gallstones get progressively worse with pregnancy, and is often overlooked despite it being so common! I would talk to your dr about it. The first time I brought it up I was told I didn't fit the usual criteria for gallbladder issues: overweight or over 40. Trust your instincts and insist on an ultrasound of the area if it persists!

  4. I hope you feel better soon. Take good care of yourself and get lots of rest…and water.

  5. Oh girl I hope you get to feeling better soon! Listen to your body – and trust your instincts. Good for you with the Christmas decor already up – so smart!

  6. Shelley, you poor thing. I will be praying for you. Bet you're glad to get Christmas decor checked off your list! Izzy will be wanting to open her presents any day now.

It sounds like gall bladder to me, too. I had the same symptoms and ended up having my gall bladder removed four weeks after my baby was born. Hope you feel better soon!
