This might be the first time ever that I actually have Christmas decor starting to go up this early. Usually, I wait until after Thanksgiving, but we will be doing a lot of traveling this holiday season and I want to make sure I get to enjoy it a bit. My Christmas decorations have never been over the top because I gravitate to a more simple look, but this year I decided to go VERY simple. Here is the first glimpse at what I currently have going on.
Unadorned Tree
I joked one year that I wanted to make naked trees a thing. But honestly, there is something so beautiful and magical about a tree dressed in nothing but lights. It gives me the feeling of being in a winter wonderland. I decided this year was going to be the year I went for it. So, our tree is up wearing nothing but the lights she came with and some sheep skin rugs around the base. The only other seasonal change I made was to our coffee table. Live oak clippings were removed and I added epsom salt to the bottoms of the vases. Since we live in a climate where a White Christmas comes only in our dreams, I thought it would be nice to bring in the feeling of it.

Once fresh garland becomes available I’ll add that to our mantle and stairway. Greenery will take the lead role this year and do its thing being all natural and beautiful. What are your thoughts on a “naked” tree? Is it something you would ever want to try? I don’t think it’s going to be the new norm around here, but it’s nice to try something different every once in a while.
we may just have an adorned tree this year… luckily i think they are beautiful! we are moving right after christmas and have to be out of our house by the 30th!
That’s the perfect excuse to give it a try! What a whirlwind, Cassie!!!
I love a tree with just twinkling white lights!!!!!!! Your tall and slender beauty couldn’t look prettier in your living room Shelley!
Thanks so much, Lisa! I definitely had to do a lot more branch fluffing than usual without the ornaments.
Beautiful! I think I’ll try it, very classy.
I’m so happy to hear that, I think you’ll love it!
