A while back I did this post over at Green Eggs and Hamm for my amazingly talented and drop-dead gorgeous cousin, Amy. It was such a fun post that I thought I’d post it again for anyone who didn’t catch it.
And, if you didn’t get a chance to stop by Amy’s blog, do so quick fast and in a hurry because a) you’ll LOVE her and be glad you did, and b) she has her very first giveaway going on right now!
So, here we go!
Supplies
{trifted tie, suit button (or anything you’d like to use), scissors, pins, needle and thread}
STEP ONE: Lay out your tie, and start folding and pining in a manner that’s pleasing to you.
STEP TWO: Lay it around your neck and add or remove folds to get the length you want. Keep in mind you’ll want to be able to have the necklace slip on and off your head after the button is sewn down.
STEP THREE: Take your needle and thread and tack down the folds from the back side of the necklace.
STEP FOUR: Place your button or accent piece and stitch down.
STEP FIVE: Enjoy your great necklace!!!
After I took this picture, it made me think this would be really cool sewn directly to the neckline of a shirt. So… I just might have to do that with another shirt and another tie!
I’ll be linking up to these fab parties!

wau–love this. i scored a ravenclaw necktie from halloween clearance last year, and i think it's perfect for a redesign. thanks for the tip!
I love this! When I first saw the picture I thought it actually was sewn directly onto the shirt so I think that is a great idea too.
going to have to add the "tie" section to my check out spots at the thrift store:)
Came by from Home stories
This is a great idea! Totally chic and definitely love the button! Now following you…

Stunning, so going to try it sewn onto a shirt!
ha ha!! Oh my!! stunning!! Such a fabulous idea!!
Stinkin' cute! Don't usually feel comfortable in anything too overbearing, but I think this would still be ok- thanks for sharing! Your blog is adorable!
What a creative idea! I've never seen anything like this! Very pretty!
This is just the cutest thing! Thanks for sharing! Nancy
Love this…it's really cute! I think I'm going to have to try to make one. I would think if you actually attached it to a shirt, it might make it hard to wash it…I think most ties are dry clean only. Just a thought.
Lorie
Very cool! I will have to try this out!
I'm loving this idea! Very cute! I am your newest follower! I would love it if you stopped by and become mine!

Super cute idea! I shared this on my Facebook page! You can see it here http://www.facebook.com/LifeInStages
this is just amazing, I love what you have done with this otherwise not so nice tie. You have also introduced me to some great sites with all the challenges you have entered, thanks for that. I recently purchased an upcycled tie scarf from a Sydney design market, amazing the things one can do with the humble tie.
waouhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bravo
I love the idea of attaching the tie to a shirt…very interesting and unique. people will be asking you where you got your shirt because they will love it!
This is so awesome. I'm pinning it on Pinterest so I can find it later.
I finally made one myself. I cut corners by using my sewing machine. But I thank you so much for the idea!

i am in love. i have seen some not-to-great tie necklaces being made & sold but i must say this is the first one i have ever seen that was elegant, beautiful and i would wear. pinning now! thank you!
Wow this is awesome! Now I know what to do with some of the ties I bought my husband from goodwill. Thanks for sharing. I am your newest follower. I would appreciate it if you stopped by my blog and followed me back. Thanks!

You can also sew it right onto the shirt – that way you know it won't slip 🙂 …but then it is permanent.
Found the link to your blog on pinterest! Thank you so much, this is super cute!
So so love. Posted today about this without knowing this link . . . a reader filled me in so it's now updated on my blog today. You are so crazy talented. Thanks for the inspiration.
great idea……and looks so fab…
This is beyond cool!!! Thanks for the idea. I tried it out 😉 Let me know what you think. http://chimerashinobi.blogspot.ca

This would actually be another cute way to hide an SNS system like the knitted cowl, but more appropriate for summer/spring.
Love it!
Love it! I have been making tie necklaces lately, must try this one! Thanks 🙂
