living room paint

July 16, 2012

Ok, things finally calmed down enough this weekend for me to get a photo taken of the living room with it’s new paint.
The painting wheels stated rolling when I was going through my Living Room Pinterest board and realized that almost every photo I have saved included rooms with either white or soft gray walls.  So I asked myself, if that’s the look I’m loving so much, why am I trying to make things work with a wall color I’m not hip on?  So, paint I did!
Here’s the old paint color.  It doesn’t look as yellowy in this pic as it does in person.
Then there was the icy blue paint fail.  Look how dirty the switch plates look – yuck.
And here she is in her new color!  Went with Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter.
The one (and only) thing I miss about the old color is the contrast it had with the photos.  But, I’m so happy with how much brighter the room feels now.
I’m now working on taking it through the entire main level (entry, dining room, kitchen) and up the stairs.  Quite the job to take on half way through a pregnancy.  Getting up and down a ladder is more difficult than I thought.
Here’s a little peek into the mess that is my dining room.
Everything has received a new coat of paint in here, including the ceiling.  Now I’m working on getting the bottom half of the wall ready for some molding.
I’m so freaking pooped people!
Anyone else in over their head with projects lately?

I totally love it. Such a small change yet such a HUGE impact! Seriously worth your efforts. Revere Pewter is on my short list of lovely colors so it's nice to see in someone's home I've "seen" before!

Yes, yes, YES! Project central at our place right now! Family room built ins, foyer make over, (I too need to take the foyer wall color up the stairs….and then down the upper hallway…. so.much.painting.) and then we decided to start bookshelves in another room….AHH!
Revere Pewter is a lovely grey, it looks so great! Great blog, I check in everyday 🙂

Love how Revere Pewter looks in there with the black and white and the brick of the fireplace! You are crazy ambitious – how do you find the energy? I'm so impressed.

Looks beautiful! Revere pewter is such a nice gray color, and looks like it was an excellent choice for your living room. I also love the drapery fabric and light fixture in your dining room–beautiful!

Loving your color choice. That one is probably in the running for me, too… I want to do something throughout the house… eventually, but man oh man, I will probably have to hire someone as it's a big job and that will break the bank… so it may be a while. But, I may start in the office at least.

Just found your blog and I LOVE it. Thank you. I was hoping you could tell me where you got that great sphere light in your dining room. I will be checking in everyday to see what fabulous ideas I can get from here.

The new color of your living room is really beautiful! I agree with you, the room does look brighter with the new color than it did with the old color. Not only that, it also made the room look fresher and cleaner. I think, after the failed icy blue paint, you finally found the right color for your living room. Anyway, what color did you use for the other room?

Love Revere Pewter! I used it at 125% strength in my home so it was just a shade darker and had more contrast with my crown molding and white plantation shutters. A wonderful color to consider in a adjacent room or on an accent wall is Chelsea Gray by Ben Moore. A dark warm gray which is just beautiful. I used it in my dining room and on a gallery photo wall.

For me, the present color of your living room is absolutely greater than the previous one. It made the room much brighter and sophisticated. Also, I liked the way it blends with the other details in the room. Sometimes, the color you choose might not go well with the rest of the interior, especially when you’re following a theme. But, in your case, it turned out great! 😀
