bunny birthday party

Every year, Izzy becomes obsessed with a fury creature.  This past year it was all about bunny rabbits.  We used to have a wild rabbit she named Flash, that lived under our patio at our Kansas house.  Her favorite thing to do was to watch him hop around our backyard.  About 20 times a day she would ask daddy if he would “scoop the bun” and bring him inside for her to keep.  It was no surprise when she said she wanted to have a bunny rabbit birthday party.
This could have easily gone down the path of your typical Easter pastels, so I steered clear of anything too sweet by pulling out the same black and white striped fabric I used for Samuel’s fox party.  The paper fans were a combination of  DIY (light pink and orange) and store boughts (white and hot pink).
Izzy’s great-great-grandmother’s bunny rabbits were the perfect centerpiece, along with Izzy’s favorite flower – snapdragons.
The party was in the afternoon so we had light (bunny appropriate) snacks.  Baby carrots dipped in ranch dressing and cups of strawberries and blueberries.  With 15 little girls in attendance, we kept dessert simple and went with cupcakes instead of a large cake.  Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, of course.

The girls played Pin the Tail on the Bunny…
and had a bunny hop sack race.  Large white pom poms attached to the back of the sacks made the perfect tails!
We definitely lucked out when it came to finding party favors.  Target’s $1.00 aisle already had their Easter goodies out and we scored clip on bunny tails and bunny ear hair clips.  Um, hello adorable!  The tags, “Thanks for hoping on by!” were made on Picmonkey.
And the part that Izzy couldn’t stop talking about months before the party?  The part that I just barely pulled off by the skin of my teeth??  Real bunny rabbits to pet and love on!!!

Made for a darn tootin’ good time 😉
