bedroom ceiling fan

May 18, 2016

I mentioned in this post that I was on the look out for a new ceiling fan for our master bedroom after our last one died during a major storm.  I could have easily replaced it with the exact same fan, but sometimes it’s nice to switch things up.  This time I wanted to go more modern.
After searching and searching and searching, I decided on the Home Decorator’s Collection Merwry fan in matte black.  The style was right, the matte black tied in with the matte black fixtures in our master bathroom, and it was practically a steal.  Sold!
The LED light puts out a nice amount of light too.  Something that can be hard when looking for fans with light kits.  You can check out my post on more good looking ceiling fans here.
I know not everyone is a fan (har, har) of ceiling fans in bedrooms.  I absolutely LOVE the look of a fabulous light fixture in a bedroom.  But, momma can’t sleep without a ceiling fan on at night.  Even when we lived in a colder climate I had one running at night.  My husband is the same way.  Anyone else out there addicted to having a fan on at night?
For some more ceiling fan ideas, check out my DIY cage light fan and my DIY drum shade fan.

We bought this same one off eBay for a steal and absolutely love it! Pictures don't do it justice. The hardest part installing was the sensor for the remote.

It does look so much better in person! I was struggling getting the remote to fit and then I realized I didn't have the rod down low enough to click into place. Doh!

    Shelley,

It looks really good! Recently, I got rid of our fan and switched to a chandelier (much to the hubby's chagrin!) I'm not a fan (haha!) of the style we had, but to be honest, yours is much better! I think the more modern and cleaner lines are much better than it being the other way around. Great choice!

Thank you, Shelia! I find myself gravitating to modern things more and more lately. Especially light fixtures. Just love the way the work with traditional decor!

i may have to do something to get our builder white version to stop working… I much prefer a light, but we have a ceiling fan AND another fan on 365 days out of the year.#highmaintenance

Honey, I have no idea what happened to the fan! It was working one minute and the next thing I knew all the blades flew off!!! Might be time to switch it out. ;D

Hello, Shelley. My wife and I had to get us a new ceiling fan some years back after ours zapped out during a storm. I didn't know this was a thing, but after hearing that yours did the same, I guess so! We thought about going without the fan, but we just got so used to the way it felt having it on, we had to get another.

Hi, I’m Shelley!  My belief is that with a little creativity and elbow grease, you can make your home look like a million bucks without spending it.  Read more >>
