First off, thank you guys for your sweet comments on my entry bench!  You know how to make a girl’s day 🙂  Several people asked about where I got the tote that was sitting on the bench.  I picked it up at a Blue Hill’s booth at Round Top here in Texas.  Unfortunately, there is zero manufacture info on it, so I can’t tell you where to find one.  But, I did search “large chevron jute tote” on Etsy, and it looks like there are the same bags in different colors and them some that are very similar.  So check it out if you’re interested!
So, I’ve been working on coming up with a fan for our master bedroom that a) wasn’t ugly, b) didn’t have a light that looked like a boob on the bottom, c) put out a lot of light, d) wouldn’t put us in the poor house, and e) was in stock so I could have my mom (the master electrician) help me put it up while she was in town.  Now if I wasn’t a procrastinator, I could have probably ordered something ahead of time, but that didn’t happen.
Here’s what we came up with.
I used the Hunter Highbury ceiling fan and the Hampton Bay Marcey Pendant.  I used only the shade and diffuser from the pendant and attached it to the light kit.  Basically the exact same process I used here.
I also spray painted the washer and finial bronze so it would match the fan.  Easy schmeasy!  I love that there’s a diffuser.  No more getting blinded when Mike decides to flip on the light while I’m still in bed.

Ignore the highwater drapes and the random TV hanging out in the corner.  This room is still a work in progress!
So, what do you think?  Do we likey?

  1. I love this! We live in TX so I'd be reluctant to give up our ceiling fan. This is the perfect solution!

  2. Love! I hate fans. All of them. But can't sleep without one. This is perfect.

  3. Yes! My husband would never let us take the ceiling fan out of our room, so this would be a great compromise. You so smart!! 🙂

  4. I'm not a fan of ceiling fans (Ha!) but yours looks very stylish! Nicely done.

  5. Great design. From the base of the lamp fixture to the shade attaching point, did you add another short section of lamp pipe?

  7. The ceiling fan looks great! It's a very elegant design. I and my wife like it even it is in the bedroom. Is it healthy to use a ceiling fan in the bedroom?

  8. Love this!!!! How does the light turn on without fan and vica versa

    1. There is a separate swich for the fan and light. The light can be turned out without the fan being turned on, and the fan can be turned on without turning in the light.
