My mom’s birthday was this past weekend, and I had been struggling with what to get her.  Then it hit me, what makes my mom the happiest?  Grandbabies!  Since we no longer live in the same town, let alone state, I though she needed something that would remind her of them every time she saw it.

My mom has a bit of a beachy feel going on in her home so I loved how these turned out.  Kind of look like sand dollars.  And I think the shadow box frames make them feel even more special.

These are seriously the easiest things to make.  And, what grandparent isn’t going to love looking at their grandchildren’s paw prints.

Salt Dough Recipe (makes 1 print):

1 cup plain flour
1 cup salt
1/2 cup water

Mix it all up in a bowl and knead it together with your hands until smooth.  If too sticky add more flour, if too dry add more water.

Use a rolling pin to roll flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and then press your cutie-pie’s hand or foot into the dough.

Bake at 200 degrees F for 3 hours.  If still soft, flip over and bake 2 more hours.

Once mine were dry I spray painted them white.  I grabbed some shadow boxes from Hobby Lobby when they were 50% off, lined the back mat with some burlap, and used gorilla glue to attached the hand prints.

Loved how they turned out and am TOTALLY going to be making myself a set!

How great would these be for grandparent’s Christmas gifts?!

What a great gift. My mom would love these as well. Since my two oldest now have bigger feet than me, I'd better find a large frame to accommodate their hands! Thanks for the great gift idea!

How sweet is that?! Adorable. Love the burlap backing, too.

I love how that white pops against the burlap/seagrass. And the perfect circle shape is so charming!
